06-14-1954 Regular Meeting REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING . A regularly adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held at the city hall June 14, 1954. The meeting was called to order by Council President, Artgur George, at ?:30 P. M. with all Council members being present. Mayor Boyd and Supt Aheldon were also present. The minutes of the Regular meeting held June 1, 1954, and the Special meeting held June 4, 1954, were read and approved as read. Motion was made by Winston, seconded by Olivenbaum, and carried, that Mr. Jack Sharpe of Orlando be contacted for a price on install1 a water line from the over-flow pipe on top of the water tank to the ground. Motion was made by Sickler, seconded by Konsler, that Mrs. Winger be notified that no signs are allowed along Highway "50", or other parts of the city, other than small signs of twelve square feet, or less, on the immediate ,property of the advertiser. Carried. Mr. Konsler, chairman of the Streets Committee, recommended and moved that the city make the following purchases: One 800 gal. tar pot and equipment from Square Deal Equipment Company of Orlando at a net price of $1,935.00; one used Grader from Moody & Sons of Jacksonville at a net price of $1,450.00 and one Rock & Gravel spreader from Florida Equipment Company of Jacksonville at a price of $945.00. The motion was seconded by Mr. Sickler and carried. Mr. Konsler, chairman of the Streets Committee, recommended and moved that the city purchase one used truck from Seaver's Garage at a price of $200.00. The motion was seconded by Mr. Sickler and carried. Motion by Konsler, seconded by Sickler, that the city pay Marion Construction company the amount of $800.00 due them for surfacing tennis courts. Motion carried. Mayor Boyd recommended that-the city pass an Ordinance covering the offense of Drunken driving within the City limits. Motion was made by Olivenbaum, seconded by Winston, that attorney Morse be instructed to prepare such an Ordinance. Mot. carried. Mayor Boyd further recommended that that Chapter 26, Section 35, of the General Revised Ordinances be ammended to provide for the registering of all bicycles within the city limits, and that the city provide a license plate. Motion was made'by Winston, seconded by Sickler and carried, that City attorney Morse be instructed to prepare such amendment and that it take ~rgeetJanuary 1, 1955. At the Mayors recomm ndation city attorney Morse was instructed to prepare a RESOLUTION extending ,the thanks of the city of Cle~nn and its officials to thoae members of the Road department responsible for the re-surfacing of temporary road "50" through the city. A letter of thanks to Senator Ed Baker for his help in this matter was also ordered. . Motion by Olivenbaum, sec nded by Konsler, that the bill due Grant Thompson for repairs to the City Hall in the amount of $38.73 be paid. ~,~otion by Winston, seconded by Kons1er, the. t city Clerk be authorized to engage Bishop and Hutcherson to sand and finish the down-stairs floors of the city hBll at a price of $168.00.
