03-16-1954 Regular Meeting ADJOURNED MEETING ~ ,., A regular adjourned meeting of the City Cqunci1 of the City of Clermont was held at the city hall March t~ 1953. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Council President Arthur George with all Council members present. Others present were Mayor Boyd, Supt. Sheldon, Fireman Fullwood, Mr. Young ~n~ Sanchez, Mr. McQuistion and Mr. King. The minutes of the regular meeting held March 2, 1954 and the Special meeting held 1~rch 8, 1954 were read and approved as read. Chairman George informed the Council that Mr. John Boyette wished to clay certain city streets. Motion by Konsler, seconded by Winston, that Mr. Boyette be given permission to olay the following streets: Hampton from Highlands avenue to highway 50; Almond street from Mi11holland to highway 50; and B10xam from Highlands to highway 50, and that the clayed surface of Bloxam be offset in order to line-up with the present paving of that street. Motion carried. Mr. Olivenbaum reported that he had been unable to discover the lease, Of a copy, on the Woman's Club building, but that he had determined that said building was covered by insurance. Mayor Boyd reported for the pol ide department in the absence of a chief. Mayor Boyd brought to the attention of the council the matter of a Reserved Parking Space on eighth street in front of the Lake View hotel and recommended that two spaces be desiginated as an Unloading Zone with a twenty minute parking limit. Motion was made by Sickler, seconded byb01ivenbaum that the recommendations of Mayor Boyd be authorized and that a two parking space area in front of the Lake View hotel on Eighth street be desiginated as an Unloading Zone with a twenty minute parking limit and that the city post the necessary signs so desiginating. Motion carried. Mayor Boyd reported that he had been informed by the State Road Department that the city streets now being used as temporary 50 would be repaired by the road department as Boon as possible and that such repairs would be made from primary road funds; meaning that such funds are available. . Mayor Boyd recommended that all existing 3/4 inch water mains be replaced with two inch mains as fast as possible. The Council agreed as to this necessity but stated that it would not be possible to take care of the matter from this years budget. Mayor Boyd again called the Council's attention to of purchasing a garbage packer at a reduced price. again agreed with the need but also stated that no available. the possibility The Council funds were ~ ,., Mr. King, of the Sanford police department spoke to the Council briefly in regards to his application for the position of Police chief. Mr. King was assured that his application would be given every consideration. Mr. Winston was authorized to endBavor to make a property trade with Mr. Moore for alley rightofway. The suggested trade was five feet from the lot adjoining Mr. MODre for eighth feet from the rear of his lot. Motion by Winston, seconded by Sickler that Tax statement numbered 1483, in the amount of $5.61, be canceled as same had been assessed through error. Motion carried. Motion by Konsler, seconded by Winston, that Tax statement numbered 1536, in the amount of $8.00 be canceled as same had been assessed through error. motion carried. . ~ ., Motion Olivenbaum, seconded by Sickler, that tax statement numbered 1347, in the amount of 24.00, be struck from the rolls as uncollectable. Motion carried. Clerk Johnson informed the council that they now had a credit in the amount of 1,750.00 with the Councty and State for permenant mosquito control. After some discussion Clerk Johnson was requested to contact Dr. Hall and make arrangements for a State engineer to meet with the council at an early date Clerk Johnson read a letter from the Christian Science Society wherein they made a gift of a piano to the city, and also a copy of a letter which he had written thanking them. Motion by Konsler, seconded by Sickler, that a Builders Risk Fire coverage policy be taken out on the library building now under cons1ruction. Motion ~arried.
