A Regular Adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of
Clermont was held at the City Hall December 15, 1953.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. with all Council
members present. others present were Mayor Higby, City Attorney
Morse, Supt. Sheldon and Police Chie~ Brooks. Visitors were
Axel Olivenbaum.
Nr. Winston, reporting f'or the Laws and Auditing Committee,
stated that the new proposed Zoning Ordinance was almost
completed and would be presented to the Council in the near
future.
Mr. Winston, reported f'or the Water Commietee, stated that
one of the water pumps was in need of repairs that that Central
Florida Well Drillers had been engaged to make the necessary
repairs.
Chairman George appointed Mr. Winston and Mr. Konsler as a
Committee to have a small radio house (approximately 6x6)
constructed at the location of the present water tank.
Mr. Olivenbaum spoke to the Council relative to certain
ins~rance coverage.
Mr. Konsler reported that a new type stI'cet light ~~s to be
installed in front of the library. Mr. Konsler et3tad~nded that
the proposed street light at the intersection of Minnehaha Ave.
and Highway 27 would be of very little value and recommended
that installation of same be postponed.
Mr. Winston oalled the Councils attention to certain sidewalks
in the ci.ty which were in need of repairs. No aotion taken.
Mayor Higby stated that he di~1rtot have a report.
Motion by Winston, seconded by Keeker, that the present
taxable valuation of the wi of lot 9 and lots 10-11-12&13,
Block 75, be reduced to land value only. Motion carried.
Motion by Meeker, seconded ~ Sickler, that the application
by Cody John~on for a building permit to construct a house on
lot 1, Block 13, with a 12i foot setback from the property
line on second street be granted, provided that there is no
objeotion from Mr. Dresser who owns the adjoining property on
the South side. Motion carried.
Motion by Winston, seconded by Kons1er, tha.t the request from
Mr. Duff for an adjustment in his water account be granted, and
that the water bill for the two months in question be reduced
by fiffy percent. Motion carried.
Motion by Meeker, seconded by Konsler, that the city pay
all hourly wage employees of the city a five dollar bonus for
,Christmas. Motion carried.

Motion by Winston, seoonded by Meeker, that the city purohase
a plate glass cover for the Council desk from Patterson Glass
Company of Leesburg atva cost of 51.20. Motion carried.
Uotiol1 by Konsler, seconded by f.1eeker, that the account due
Bumby & Stimpson be paid as soon as their work'has been accepted
by the streets committee. Motion carried.
Motion by Konsler, seconded by Meeker, that tax statement #1569
be canceled as same had been assessed through error. carried.
Motion by Konsler, seconden by Meeker, that tax statement #679
be canceled as the property covered therein had been assessed
through error. Motion carried.

,Motion by Winston, seconded by Sickler, that the City
acoept a bond in the amount of 1,000.00 on United States
Fidelity and Guaranty Company, from a W. M. Harrison
who has lost Clermont Bond #769, 1939 issue, and that the
principal in the amount of 500.00 be paid. Motion carr'ed.
Motion by Winston, seconded by Sickler, that City of Clermont
and South Lake Memorial Hospital cancel the present lease and enter
into a new lease on same terms and conditions and for hospital
use only all lots in Block 82 owned by the city except the Nt of
lot 15, all of lot 16 and the NIOOI of lot 17. Motion carried.
Motion Konsler, seconded by Sickler, that Mrs. S8anley, City Tax
Assessor, be authorized to have the necessary Personal Property
Statement blanks printed as per her request. Motion ua~~ied.
Motion by Heeker, seconded by Sickler, that Supt. Sheldon be
authorized to install a Shower in one of the jail cells for the
use of prisoners and that the city furnish its prisoners with
the essential supplies. Motion carried. '
Motion by Meeker, seconded-by Winston, that clerk Johnson
~e authorized to draw a check on the Interest & Sinking Fund,
Citizens Bank, Clermont, in the.amount of $4,395.00 for
January Interest payment on City of Clermont bonds.
