SPECIAL MEETING
A Special meeting of the city Council of the City of
Clermont was held at the office of the city hall,
August II, 1953.

The meeting was called to order by ,Council President
Arthur George at 7:00 P. M. with all council members
present. Mayor Highy was also present.
Clerk Jo}mson read an application from Rose Mary Hilton
for a beer license to operate in the Lincoln Park area.
The application was refused on the grounds that ho
additional places for thr sale of beer were needed in that
area.
Motion was made by Konsler, seconded by Meeker and
carried that Section 5, of Ordinance 48 be amended to
include laundryettes employing more than five people.
Motion by Sickler, seconded by Winston and carried
that Section 3 of Ordinance 48 be amended to include
funeral homes.
A general discussion took place relative to the
hours worked by the police force and the manner in which
their shifts. were rotated.
Mayor Higby stated that he was preparing a schedule,
and would recommend that the Council adopt same, whereby
each policeman would be rotated as to hours.._:on and off
so that eac~ would serve the same number of days on
each separate shift. Mayor Higby was informed that
the Council would be pleased to adopt such a program
as they were also of the opinion that the hours, shifts
and days off should be fairly divided among the three
policemen. Mayor Higby wwas to submit his schedule at
the next meeting.
