A Special meeting of the city Council of the city of
Clermont was held at the city hall, l'Ionday, December
22, 1952.
The meeting was called to order by Council President
T. C. Cork, Jr., Rt::3 :'50" P. M. with all members being
present with the exception of Mr. Mecker. Others being
present were Mayor Higby and Patrolman Tom Hinton.

A letter, dated December 16, 1952, from ft~. Kratzert,
Asst. State Highway Engineer was read by the f.':ayor and members
of the council. In said letter it was stated by Mr. Kratzert
that the State Road Department could notvagree to the
stipulations as set forth in the Resolution passed at
the meeting held December 16tl1., 1952, by the city Council.
No further action was taken on the matter.
Mr. Hinton asked, and was given permission to address the
Council. Mr. Hinton stated that he had been accused of
ordering certain repairs to the Police car at Seavers
garage and that he wanted it distinctly understood that
he had not ordered any work of any kind done to the police
car which was covered by the account in question.
Mr. Fullwood, Mr. Clark and Police Chief Brooks were called
in at this time and a general hearing on the Police Department
took place.
Mr. Hinton offered his resigination to take effect immediately,
and stated that he would present same in writting as soon
as possible. No action taken.
After further discussion regarding the Police Department
Mr. Winston stated that he wished it to be a matter of record
that he ~avored a police force of three men with one of
the men acting a Chief and that such man be qualified to hold
suc~ office. That he further favored each of the ~hree men
working an equal number of hours and that each bebo entitle
to one day off each week and that the work schedule be so
arranged that the men know in advance which day is to be their
day off.
Motion by Winston, seconded by GeORge, that meeting adjourn.
