REGULAR MEETING
A regular meeting of the City Council of the oity of
Clermont was held at the city hall, Deoember 2, 1952.
The meeting was oalled to order by Council President,
T. C. Cork, Jr. at 7:30 P. M. with all Council members
present. Others present were Mayor HigbYL Supt. Sheldon,
Police Chief Brooks and visitors, T. C. vork, Sr. ~Irs.
Arnett, Urs. Berryman, 1~. Hicks, ~r. Waters and Mr.
Morris.
The minutes of the meetings held November 18, and 28,
1952 were read and approved.

Mr. Cork, Sr. representing the Cooper Memorial Library
ASsociation, submitted a proposed contract between said
Cooper Memorial Library association and the city of
Clermont, with the request that the City of Clermont
enter in to suoh oontract.
Motion by George, seconded by Winston, that the city of
Clermont enter into a contract with the Cooper llemorial
Library association, giving said library association certain
definate powers and priviledges. l1otion oarried.
l~r. Morris, ~.ir. Hioks and Mr. Waters spoke to the Counoil
regarding the enlargement of the present community building
and offered plans and estimated oosts for suoh enlargement.
Motion by Ferguson, seconded by Meeker, that the matter of
an addition to the oommunity building be tabled for the
oonsideration of the new counoi1. Motion oarried.
Police Chief Brooks report was read and ordered filed.
Clerk Johnson oalled the oouncils attention to certain
errors existing in the tax roll.
Motion George, seoonded Meeker, that tax statement #1569
be struok from the rolls as same had boen assessed through
error. Motion oarried.
Moti~n by George, seconded by Winston that tax statement
#1561 be struck from the rolls as same had been assessed
through error. Motion carried.
Motion by George seoonded by Winston that the valuation on
Tax statement #1085 be reduced by an amount of $150.00 as
to valuation as same had been increased through error.
Motion oarried.
Motion by Winston, seconded by Meeker, that property
covered on tax statement 1257 be taxed for Debt service
only as such property is located in an excluded area and
was taxed for operations by error. Motion oarried.
Motion by Ferguson, seconded by Meeker that tax statement
#1551 be struck from the roll as same had been assesed
through error. Motion carried.
l[otion by George, seconded by Winston, that tax statement
#1582 be struok from the roll as same had bee assessed
through error. Motion carried.
Motion by Winston, seconded by Meeker that tax statement
#1567 be struck from the roll as same had been assessed through
error. Motion carried.
Motion by Meeker, seconded by George, that the Clerk be
authorized to adjust tax statement #1070. Motion carried.

Clerk dohnson read a letter from Mrs. das. Barr,
wherein she made request for a disability exemption
to apply on her taxes. The clerk was instructed to
advise 1\frs. Barr that the ci ty would allow only such
exemptions as allowed by the county and until such
time as the county gra:ited such exemption it would not be
possible for the city to do so.
Clerk dohnson i~ormed the Council that Mr. Chas. Hallock
had made application to locate a hou~~~~railer on Block
16, Sunny side unit. Clerk dobnson was instructed to
inform Mr. Hallock that his request was denied and that
he would not be allowed to locate-the trailer on the
property in quest~on.
Motion by Winston, seconded by George, that the city
furnish the citizens bank of Clermont extra Police
protection at the opening and closing of said bank for
a charge of 25.00 monthly. Motion carried.
Mr. Sheldon was instructed to place two "Dangerous
Curve" signs at the curve where Fifth street meets
Mirmehaha Avenue.
Mr. Cork asked ?Er. Ferguson to preSide over the meetinl.
Motion by Cork, seconded by George, that the city attorney
be instructed to proceed with the necessary arrangements
to have the city charter changed in order that the Tax '
assessor will be an appointive office and not ellective.
Mr. Cork also offer another mot16n:.:l petaining to the
office of Mayor, but such motion died for need of a second.
Motion was made by Winston, seconded by George, thst
Mr. Corks motion be tabled until the next Council meeting.
Motion carried. .
Motion by Meeker, seconded by George that bills be paid.
Motion by George, seconded by Mekker that bills be ap1d.
