Chairrflan' Cork appointud Mr. Goorge, Mr. r.ioeker and Mr. Ferguson, as a comrjittoo to appraise certain city ownod lots. Mayor Higby repor.ted that 0. "Safoty Patrol" had been formod in the local School and that the Patrol was operating nicoly. Uayor Highby further reported that an attempt vias boing ~ade to have the Stato Hiehway Cor.nnission routo i.Yost bound traffic through Clermont by-way-of llinneh~~a Avonuoo Mayor Higby roquosted that tho Council authorizo the payment of 5.00 nir~tly to Urs. Bornhart for tho time when Mr. Bernhart was serving as RadiorDporator duo his having boen injured and being unable to servo as a patrolnan. Motion by Winston, Seconded by For~son that the request of Mayor Higby be srantod and that 'Mrso"Bernha.rt bo paid in full for t~e period fron Soptembor 15th to Octobor l3t. Carried. Polico Chief Brooks submittod his monthly report and sane was road, aceoptod and ordorod filed. ... _w. . Supt. *,oportop. .'that ~.;:r. Brad Fullwood had made application for tho job as 24 hour fireman, and that ho rocoL1mendod that Mro Fulluood bo 3iven tho job. r.iotion by Winston, seconded by Fereuson, that 1.ir. Fullvlood be employod a.s the 24 hour firoman at a salary of 175.00 per month; plus a~ apartment and utilitios. ~otion carried. Motion by Winston, seconded by r{oekor, that tho offer by South Lako Construction Company to construct tho p~p house for a price of 785.00, and the offer by Brantloy Electric Co., to do the nocossa~J olectrical work for a prico of 850.00 bo acceptod and that tho two concerns be authorized to start work i~1odiatoly. Motion carried. Chairman Cork instructed tho ITator committoe to contact the firms of South Lake Construction Co., and Brantly Electric; r.nd to make arrangoments with theM to have the pump house constructod at tho earliest possiblo date. Motion by Winston, secondod by Ferguson, that Attornoy Morse be authorized to spend up to twenty five dollars for tho procurement of a "chain of title" on that property between 8th and 10th stroets, Blocks 88, 89, 100 and 1010 Motion carried. Motion by GeorGe, socondod by lloeker, that the city obtain bids on foUr U. S. Royal Cord tires, size 650/16, for the polico car. Motion carriod. ~~otion by' Winston, seconded by Ferguson that bills be paid. n~ ~ Motion by Ferguson, seconded by George that Clerk be suthorized to redeem the Tax Sale certificate numbered "seven (7) and "thirteen" (13) on 1942 taxes, as it appears from the records that the necessary money had been paid to the city by the owners of the property, but that the city had failed to redeem the outstanding oertificate. Motion carried. Motion by Winston, seconded by Meeker, that the Clerk be authorized to redeem County Tax Sale certificate numbered. 9505; for 1933 taxes, on Block lqO, . City of Clermont, in the amount of 280.68. Motion carried. ~. Clerk'Johnson read a letter from Mrs. Dorris Rogers; wherein a request was made for the use of the community building in which to oonduct dancing classes for children. The request asked that the building be made available to them each Friday for that time from 2:30 P. M. until 5:50 P. M. It was brought to the attention of the council that the Gard,n Club had already made arrangements for the use of the building on certain Friday afternoons. It. was further brough to tpe attention of the Council that the building could not be used for commercial purposes. Motion by, George, seconded by Meeker, that n~s Rogers be informed that her request vias granted to the extent that the'building could be used for dancing classes, provided that its use was non- oommeroial and further provided that the neoessary schedule could be worked out betwwn the Garden olub and the Wellfare League; said .Wellfare League being" the sponsors of the Dancing sohool. Motion oarried. Mr. Winston recommended that the city remove ~G limbs from the oak tree on Montrose street, in front of the property owned by Mrs. Meislahn. Supt. Sheldon was instructed to oarry out the reoommendations made by Mr. Winston. Clerk Johnson reported to the Council that E. C. Pemberton was desirous of information as to a location where a wholesale oil bulk station might be located. It was the general opinion of the Counoil that no additional territory should be zoned for that purpose at this time. ~ ~ ~ --.., Mr. George introduced and moved that it be passed, !IAN ORDINANCE PROVIDING'A TAX LEVY ON ALL PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA, FOR THE YEAR 1952; PROVIDING A BUDGET OF EXPENSES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1952-53 AND MAKING APPROPRIATIONS THEREFOR" which Ordinance was read in full. Motion was seconded by Mr. Winston and when put to a vote carried. Mr. George then m~ved that the rules be waived and the ordinance read the second time by title only. The motion was seconded by Mr. Ferguson and carried. After the second reading Mr. George moved that. the rules be furthe~ waived and that the OrdinancG.be read the third time and placed upon its passage. The motion was seconded by A~.Winston and when put to a vote unanamously carried. Thereupon the Ordinance was read in full the third time and upon its passage the"roll call vote was as follows: Ayes: Meeker; Ferguson; Go.orge, Winston and Cork. Nay:none.
