09-02-1952 Regular Meeting REGULAR MEETING ~ .., A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Clernlont was held at tho city hall ~uesday, Aeptomber 2, 1952. The meeting was called to order by Vice-Chairman Forguson at 7:30 P. M. with all members prosent with the oxception of Mr. Cork,' Jr~ Others being presont were Mayor Higby; City attorney Morse, Supt. Sheldon, Police Chiof Brooks . and Mr. Brad Fullwood. In the absence of Clerk Johnson; Mr. W. H. McQuistion recorded tho minutes. Minutos .of tlw meoting held August 19, 1952 wero road by Er. Sholdon re~ortod that lots in tho presont cemetary were gotting scarce an0. recommended that the prico of the 25.00 lots be raised.t.mhe matter was roferred to the cemetary committee for a.later report and recommendation. A let tor from Black Laboratories was road, rolative to the building of tho now pump house. No action taken. Mayor Higby roported that Polico forco was operatiug nicoly. Mayor Higby recommodded that Council take necessary action to havo our insuranco rating reduced from #3 to #2. The matter was referred to all members of the Council to take tho mattor up with the Insurance company. . llotion by Winston, seconded by Goorgo, that the salary of Chas. Clark, Patrolma, be increased to 200.00 per month effective Sept. 1, 1952. lTotion carried. Police chief Brooks submitted his reprot and "ame was acceptod and ordorod filed. Streot Committed reported that the oponine of that part of Codar street requested by Er. T. C. Cork, Sr. representing the American Fruit GroVlers, was almost hipessible as it was mostly in swamp land. lTo actien takon. The mat.tor of giving l:;r . Sullivan a two year franchise ~~r ~axi-cab service in the City of Clbrmont was discussed. Apparontly such action was not favorablo to the Council. However, motion was made by r,~r. Winston, seconded by r,rr. Moeker and carried that tho matter be referred to attorney Morse for an opinion as to the legality of such action and as te price and terms. Motion by Winston, seconded by George that bills be paid with the exception of the n1ack Laboratories account in the amount of ~~166.00.
