A regular moeting of the city COID1cil of the city of Clermont
was hold at tho city hall June 3; 1952.
Tho meeting was called to order by Council President, T. C.
Cork, Jr., at 7:30 P. M. with all council members present.
Also present werE> },'[ayor Harpor~ Mr. Sheldon, Police Chief Brooks
and Mr. Fullwood.
The minutes of tl10 meetings held May 20, 1952 and May 26, 1952
were read and approved as read.
Mr. Winston reported for the water Committee and recommended
that tho city proceed with procuring bids for six and eight
inch pipe. .
Motion by George~ secondod by Ferguson, that the Clork
procuro bids on six and eight inch transite pipe in car load
and less than car load lots. Motion carried.
Clerk Johnson Vlas instructed to contact l.Tr. Crmve of Black
Laboratories and ask him to como to Clermont and make recomr~endati
for wator mains installation.
Motion by George, seconded by Meeker, that tho motion of May
20th., 1952, relative to abandoning the city park on tho 'South
West side of Lake Sunnyside be rescinded. Motion carrlied.
Motion by Goorge, soconded by Winston; that city authorize
Wolfe Construction Company to proceed with the grading'of a
part of Diston street at an approximate cost of 080.00, it
being understood that the adjoining property owners'would
be indebted to the city for two thirds of said cost. Mot. Carried.
Mr. Winston reported on the condition of sidewalks in
one section of the city and made recommendations for repairs,
and moved that said rocomr~0ndations be accepted by the council
and that the clerk be instructed to notify property owners
where sidewalks are in need of repairs to have same repaired
within thirty days from date of notification. The motion was .
seconded by Mr. Ferguson and upon being put to a vote aarried.
Mr. Winston further reported that none of the local contractors
appeared to be interested in this typo of work, with the
exception of ~r. eceil Keene. After some discussion it was
decided that Mr. Koene would be engagod to do the work for
the city at tho rate of cost plus 10%.

Mayor Harp~r made a verbal report.
Mayor stated that he wished to hi~1iy compliment 1~. ~heldon
for his spmendid work with the cicy.
Motion by Fer~son, seconded by Neeker,that the city purchase
two street garbage cans of tho type recommended by the Garden
Club, in or:der to help 'the Garden Club with their "Clean-uplJ
campaign. l'!lotion carried.
Police Chiof Brooks read his report and same was ordered filed.
Motion by George, seconded by \'~iinston, that Mr. Mecker be
authorized to endorse the expenditures of 1894.00 by the
Athletic Association, for the construction of a metal roof
and other construction to the grand stand at the base-ball
field, with the understanding that the Athletic AAssociation
procoed'with tho immediate installation of seats. Motion
carried.

Motion by Goorgo~ seconded by Forguson; tllat the city sell
tho Ni of lots 7&8, ~lock M, to South Lake Construction Company
for a cash price of ;i?l,OOO.OO, and tho further consideration .
that said South'Lake Construction Company grado and clay Diston
street from DeSota to Pitt without cost to tho city. ~1e motion
carried with Mr. Winston voting No.
The Clerk read a letter from Mrs. Floreco Dowd Flynn relative'
to certain claimed unsanita~ cqnditions on adjoining property.
Tho ma~ter was reforred to Iflr. ~eldon with instructions 'to
have" such conditions corrected immediately.
The Clerk read a letter from L~. H. Earle Hooks~ asking for
permission to eroct a small houso approximately 6x6 and sevon'foet hi
high~at the south end of sevo~,th st.roet on Lake Winona. The clerk
was instructed to inform Mr. nooks that his request would be granted
when he presented tho council with written approval from the
interested property owners in that section of the city, ,.namely
Mr. Clay, Mr.-F~eider, Rev. Lowe, Mr. Harris, Mr. Stevens and
:Mrs. Cochrane.

The Clerk read a letter from 1Y1r. Joe Bernhart, requesting an
increase in salary. llle clerk was instructed to inform.Mr.
Bernhard that his request was rofused.
Motion by Ferguson, soconded by Meek0r~' that the Clerk be
authorized to transfer the St~ of $5;025.00 from the interost
&; sinking fund t? the Coupon ac count.' TJotion carried.
Motion by George ~ seconded by \linston, that the Personal
Property tax of Perry Cooper Estate be struck from the rolls
as same had been assessed through error. Carried.
Motion by George, seconded by Winston, that the personal property
tax of Ed Brunson be struck fronl tho roll as same had be on assessed
through error. Motion carried.
Motion by ~eorge, seconded by Winst2n that the Clerk be authorized
to ref'und ~lJ.r.s Frisz the amount of ~p7.50, as she had not boen
allowed "Widows Exemption" to which she was entitlod. Carried.
Motion by George, seconded by Ferguson, that Post r.~aster Seavors
recomnlendations that the names of certain streets be changed in
order to facilitate mail delivery, and that the following changes
be made: Lime stroet from the Eastern boundry of Lake Minnehaha
Drive to the \;Vestern boundry of Lake Idinnehaha drive to Lake
Minnehaha drive; that Tivolia Road from the Southern boundry of
Fifth streot to its interseQtion of P~nzance be changed to
FiftJ}. street; that rl~veria hoad from J:iif'th street to rJinnehaha
Ave., be cl'1-anged to l\1innehaha Ave.; that Knapp streot be changed
to East Ave.t and that East Ave. botween Minnehaha Avo. and Lake
Minnehaha dr~ ve be changed to Knapp street. r.:otion carried.
Mr. George proposed, and asked that same be a n~ttor of record,
that tlw city Council request the opinion of' tho general public
with regard to an "across the board" increase in all real property
vauuations, tho~eby increasmng the amount of taxes to be assessed
against all property owners; for the purpose of financing the
over increasing requests for donations by local organizations
such as the J. C f s., the Chamber of Commerce, the GardEm Club
the Base-Ball association and others, and including the demands
by such organizations, and individuals, for additional
expenditures by the city for new and extended services which are
impossible under the present budget.
Mr. Meeker offered, and mov~~ its adoption, and Ordinance
AMENDING SECTION 6, CHAPTER 1 REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES
OF THE CITY OF CLERHONT, LAKE' COUNTY, FLORIDA:
V~ich Ordinaco was road in full. Th0 motion was seconded by
Mr. Winston and unamanously carriod.

Mr~' Winston then moved that the rules be waived
and that the Ordinance be read the second time by
title only. The motion was soconded by Mr. Ferguson
and unamously carried. After the second roading
Mr. George moved that the rulos be furthor waived
and that the Ordinance be placed upon its passage.
The motion was seconded by ~r. Ferguson and lunanamously
carried. Thereupon the Ordinance was read in full
and upon roll call vote the ayes were Winston;
George, Ferguson, r',Ieeker and Cork. No: none.
The Ordinance was passed title as stated and orderod
recorded in the Ordinance Book and numbered 109.
A copy in full appears following thBse minutes.
Motion by Meeker, seconded by Ferguson that bills
be paid. Motion carried.
Motion by Georgo, seconded by Meeker that meeting
adjourn.
