REGULAR NEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.

A regular moeting of the city Council was hold at the city
hall, April 1, 1952.
The meeting was called to order by President T. C. Cork, Jr.
at 7:30 P. M. with all members present. .
Others being prosont were Mayor Harper, Attorney Morse, Marshall
Brooks, Forema.n Fullwood and I'.lr. Oakley Seaver.
Mr. Seaver statod that tI10 Post Offico department were considering
city de1ivory in Clormont, but that it would be necessary for all
stroets to be namod and lettered and for all houses to be numbored.
lira Seaver was informed that tho numbering of houses was in process
and that upright markers were being considered for tho streets.
Attorney Uorse read a letter, from himself to chairman Cork,
relative to tho closing of cortain alleys and stroets in the city
and suggosted that the council give this mattor consideration,
and inform him just what streots, or alloys, they dosired closed.
Chairman Cork roforrod the mattor to the streots committoo for
in~estigation and reco~endation.
lire Harpor asRed as many of tho council as possible to attend
the noxt loague of r.iunicipality mooting.
Mayor Harper rocon~ondod that that Lako Avenuo, betwoon Minneola
Avo. and Oscoo1a Ave. be marked for pa~~parking.
The council instructed r.Ir. Fullwood to take caro of this matter.

r.Iayor ~1 informed tho council that Mr. Ross Cantwell had
granted pormission for tho city to use his lots on Fifth'stroet
betweon nannoo1a Avo. and Osceola Ave. for a parking lot.
Mayor Harper roported that he was allowing all canidates to use
the parking space in fron of the ~0stern Auto S~ore, when in tho
city.
Attorney r:orse reported to tho council that the tovms which ho
had contactod appoarod to be vory well satisfied with the services ()
HWL~icutt and Associatos.
Attornc;>y Eor~o called tho councils attention to the fact that
thore had apparently beon an overpayment of paving liens on city
tax liens, on lots l5, 17 & 19, Block 85.
r~otion by GeorGo, seconded by Ferguson, that after the Clerk
and Mr. Sheppard, tho auditor, had chocked into the matter
that the amount of ovor paYment bo refunded. Carried.
riTlfJtion by Winston, socondod by George, that the clerk send out
notices along with tho water cards; notifying the genora1 public
that only metal cans with tight fitting tops may be used for
garbage, whon:;placed'a t the curbing for pickup by city crews.
It was agrood howevor, that papors and magazines would be picked up
provided they were bundled and securely tied. Carriod.
Clerk Johnson was instructed to secure prices on a Garbago Packer.

Uotion by rlinston, seconded by George that Clerk Johnson be
authorized to soll city owned lots at the minimum prices sot by the
council. Carriod.
IHotion by George, seconded by Ferguson, that Mr. Shewey be engaged
to proparo'a map of the city of C1ormont, fror:J. tho plats now on
file in tho county courthouse, showing all subdivisions and the
new highways, at an approximate price of 150.00 and the eity to
pay the costs of all photostats. I.lotion carried with \'linston
voting no.

~,Cotion by Winston, seconded by Ferguson, that the bids in the
following amounts on the following listed lots be accepted and
that deeds me issued to the purchasers upon receipt of their
check for payment in full: .
Lots 12-& 14, Block l07; Indian Hills, to Clem L. l:ullins
at 03l0~00 for each lot.
Lot'204, Clermont Heights at a price Of 150.50 and lot 8~ Block
l6, Sunnyside Unit, at a price of l'76.50 to J. R. EclllJh.orter.
Lots 30 to 35 Incl. Block 9, S~~yside Unit, -to H. C. Brown
at a price of 150.00 oach, or a total of 900.00.
Motion carried.

Lot 18, Block 7, Sunnyside Unit to ~~. ~Neal for a price of
lOO.OO. duo to the fact that Mr. ~Neal had doedad the necessary
property for right-ofway of highway "50" without charge. Carried.
~Jotion by Moeker, seconded by George, that Hunnicutt and
associates be advised tllat the city Cou~cil ar~ not interested-
in entoring into a contract with them. Motion carried with Mr.
~,llJinston voting lTo.
Eotion by Winston, soconded by lleeker, that the city order an
automatic s~itch for tho fire siren at a price of 59.00. Carried.
Mr. Winston suggested that the chairs purchased for the council
room remain in that offico.
Uayor Harper requested tl~t the mooting adjourn to an executive
session.
Executive session:
Hayor Harper reported that he was entirely dissatisfied with the opo
oporation of the police department and outlined his reasons.
r.~otion by Winston, soconded by Ferguson, that inasmuch as the r:ayor
had engaged ~.Tr. V"Jillbanks at a monthly salary of l85.00, the Clerk
be authorized to pay Hr. ~il1banks for five days at that rate.
Notion carriod.
M:otion by \1Jinston, seconded by Ferguson, that Joe Bernhart, bo
paid at tho rate of an additional half of his salary, ttDr eight
nights. r,Totion .;arried.
Motion by Winston, seconded by Ferguson, that the I.'iayor be
authorized to enggge an additional policeman, the same Deing
the third man, at a salary of 175.00 monthly. Carriod.
