Specia,l Meeting of the City Council
City of Clermont
A special meeting of the City ~ouncil called in accordan~e with
the ordinances and Charter of the C1ty of Clermont by the Pres.clent
of the City Council for 9 A.M., on Thursday, March 13, 1952, was held
with all members of the City Council present together with the Mayor,
City Clerk and City Attorney.
The almost complete destruction of the Bronson-Kern home in
Block 82 was discussed as well as the unsanitary conditions of the
premises and all the buildings and trailers thereon and there was
further discussed the fire hazards of said property within the City
and the following motions were duly made and unanimously passed rel-
ative to the Reba Bronson and/or William Kern property in Block 82,
City of Clermont:
1. "That the house located in Block 82, Clermont, owned by
Reba Bronson and/or William Kern, which was approximately 80% des-
troyed by fire on Sunday, March 9, 1952, is not to be in any way
altered, re~aired or rebuilt unless torn down completely and a new
building (s) built in accordance with the Building Codes, Zoning
Laws, and Fire Zone Ordinances of this City; that it is not to be
occupied, and barriers must be placed at both entrances to the real
property as it and the premises are a hazard to the public, particu-
larly children; that the house is to be torn down and all debris
removed from the premises within 60 days."
2. "That the use and occupancy of the house cars or trailers
on the Reba Bronson property in said Block 82 (now on temporary
foundations) is to be stopped within 48 hours of this date, because
their use and occupancy is endangering the health of the occupants,
residents of the city, traveling public and particularly those oc-
cupying and using the adjoining property because of the absence of
any sanitary facilities whatsoever.1I
3. "That the shed and/or garage in said Block located East of
the burned house are in a bad state of repairs and are used for storing
paint and other combustible materials which are a fire hazard and are
endangering the entire business district, particularly the property
in Block 82, and must be, together with the surxounding premises,
immediately cleaned up and all debris removed so as to remove all
fire hazards."
4. "That the Council will take any and all steps necessary to
enforce these motions, the ordinances and laws of the City of Clermont
xelating to the health, sanitation and general welfare of the public
in the City of Clermont as relates to or are affected in any way by
said present conditions on said premises; even to the extent of the
City's tearing down and removing all debris, removing all fire hazards
generally cleaning up said premises and making said premises liable '
therefor. II
5. "That the said Reba Bronson a.nd/or William Kern sha.ll have
a copy of these motions delivered to them by the City Marshal together
with a Notice to immediately comply with same."
There being no further business to come before the Council, the
meeting was adjourned.

You, and each of you, are hereby notified that the City
Council of the City of Clermont has as of this date passed
motions relative to the property owned by either one or both
of you in Block 82 os:' ~ich is loca.ted the trailers, sheds or
garages, and the old home destroyed by fire which they intend to
put into effect by enforcement thereof thxough the various ordi-
nances of the City of Clermont and under the Charter of said City,
a copy of which motions axe hereto attached.
