REGULAR MEETING
The regular meeting er the oi't7 ceuncil was held at the
city hall, December 4, 1951.
The meeting was called te erder at 7:30 P. M. by President
E. G. Win.ten, with th.'re11ew1ng member. present: Cerk, Jr.,
Fergusen and MoQuistien.' Absent Geerg.. Oth.rs b.ing pr....nt

Mr. Viti, upen being asked te .tated his busine.s, effered the
epinien ~hat the valuati.n .n his h.me was was en~ir81y .ut er
lin. with .ther valuations and muoh to 0 high. H. r~qu.8 ted that
the oeuncil give this matter attentien. Chairman Wins ten infermed
Mr. Viti that inasmuoh all the tax r.ll had been acoepted by the .
council it weuld b. impessible te make aff1 changes rer this year, .
but that his request weuld b. censidered in next years valuatiens.
Mayer Nagel reperted that he was prooeeding'with o.uncils
in.8truotiell8 regarding the Ken, er Brensen, apartment house,

Mr. MoQuistien that tho street light weuld be installed in
the neighberheed of the city park se.n.
Mr. Cerk reperted that Mr.. C. C. Higby had complained that
the valuatien en her hem. had boen raised and that sho had net
been .etU'ied, and ther.tere, had net had the privi1edge er
appearing berere the .qualizatien beard. Clerk J.hnson stated
that Mrs. Higby had net beon infermed er an inor.as. due te
the tact that the Y.1uatien list furu.1shed him had actually
shewn that tho property in questien was lewered instead er
beil'lg rais.d.
Metien by Cerk, seo.nded F.rgusen, that the preperty vaulatien
rer Mrs. Higby be r.duced te tho same figure a8 last year,
er $5,630.00. Carried.
Clerk Jehnsen reperted that he had been infermed by Blaok
Laberateri.. that tho Stat. Beard ef Health had granted the
city er Clerment. request fer a new well, and that bids ter the
~ digging er aame ceuld new be asked r.r.
Metien Cork, seconded MoQuistien, that Black Laberaterie.
be autherized te take the necessary at.ps 1n advertising fer
bids fer the now well. Metien carried.
C1.rk Jehns.n r.ad a letter from Merton J. Barn.. Wherein. an
he etter.d te heat the city hall fer a prioe et $2,678.00,
net inoluding tho ,.liJ:r ~ electrical werk.
Metien Cerk, seconded F.rgusen that Mr. Barnos be giv.n the .
contract and instructed te start work immediately. Carried.
Fire chief Ihe1d.n stated that h. had ne repert.
Pe1ice chi.r Breeks read his report and same was acoept.d and
erdered filed.
City Atterney Merse gav. a report en a meeting which he bad
attended and made certain recemmendati.ns. Mr. Merse wal instruoted
te get further inte:rmatien and the c.st ef his suggt st.d pregram.
The petitions ef tlw fell.wing canidates for oity offices
were examined .and upen moti0n by' Cork; seconded by Ferguson;
and carried were approved and erdered placed en the ballet.

Motion bt Cork; seconded by Ferguson, tba t in an effort to .
fairly distribute the business of tho city among tho .loca1
firms; that Carroll Electric Company and Clermont Electric be
given the opportunity of furnishing the electric refrigerater
and electric steve fer tho new apartment; in the city hall;
and that in the event thoy did net care t. f'urnish their
mero~ndise that MCDGrea plumbing oCDmpatQ' be allowed to furnish
same. Motion carried.
Censiderable disoussion took place regarding the bill rendered
by Mr. Halste(! fer his servioes in preparing the appartment at
~ the oity hall.' Each of the ceuncilmen were d~fb1ately opposed
te allowing Mr. Halsted a 10%, "mark-up" en the entire account~
The bill: was ordered "not paid" until some adjustment could be
reached. 0 .
Motion by Cork; secended by Ferguson that the follewing
acoounts for materials fUrnished 'in the oonstruotion and
furnishing of' the new'apartment be paid: MeGree Plumbing $826.90,
Brantly E1Gotrio $24~.07, Clermont Hardware $83.34. Carried.

instructed te place and order with F1erida-Geergia Tractor

$1435.00 F. O. B. Clermont. Motion carried.

error. Carried.

upenlnvestigatlon the .oeuncil decided that ne error
