10-16-1951 Regular Meeting REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING The regular adjourned meeting of the city 'council was held at the city hall, October 16, 1951. ~ ~ The meeting was called to order by council President, E. G. Winston at 7:40 P. M. with the' following members present: Arthur George, B. K. Ferguson and W. H. McQuistion. Absent T. C. Cork, Jr. Also present were Mayor George Nagel, Fire Chief Sheldon, City Foreman Fullwood and officers Brooks and Pennington. Nothing to report from committee chairmen. Mr. Fullwood reported that Mr. William Elliott had offered to load the sand from the islands in the street, west of the Catholic church, onto the city trucks for .20i per yard. Motion by George, seconded by Ferguson, that Mr. Fullwood be authorized to engage Mr. Elliott to load the sand in question at the offered price of .20i per yard. Clerk Johnson was instructed to contact Mr. Robert Lane and determine if he would undertake to reseat the plate glass windows in the city hall, and to obtain a price on certain repairs at the ball park. Clerk Johnson was instructed to write Moores Plumbing and heating and inform them that the Business Personal property tax assessed against Roes Appliances was past due and must be paid. Motion by George, seconded by McQuistion that clerk be authorized to advance John Dingle the amount of $75.00 on his wages. Carried Motion by George, seconded by McQuistion, that clerk be authorized to .withdraw the amount of $370.00 from the Water Meter Deposit fund, Citizens Bank, and to invest that amount in govermeht bonds. Carried. . Motion by McQuistion, seconded by George that the clerk be , authorized to transfer the amount of $3~97.41 from the Cigarette tax fund to the general fund, to reemburse the general fund for the expenditures of the following items: Police Radio Equipment 1247.$2, Pickup truck 1490.60, pipe from Wolfe & Konsler 219.45, pipe from ,Pomona Products 169.62, Fire equipment from Republic Rubber Division 2$9.70, Garbage Disposal labor 2$0.22; total $3,697.41 Clerk Johnson asked the council for instructions ,regarding the cmllection of Occupational licenses. He was instructed to aalowca grace period of thirty days, thereby making October 31, 1951 the dead-line, and after that date to proceed with collection as setforth in the ordinance. ~ ~~ Mr. McQuistion brought of the matter of the removal of certain trees from the Floyd Roe property. The matter was tabled. It was decided that the best place to dispose of the sand from the street in front of the Catholic church would be the J. C. Park. Mayor Nagel was authorized to purchase "School Bus Parking signs", Clerk Johnson was authorized to engage the necessary bfr~ce help for the months of November and December, and Officer Brooks was authorized to allow John Cunningham a monthly gasoline allo\~ance for the use of his car while on Police duty. The matter of a radio operator was discussed. Motion by George, seconded by Ferguson, and carried that meeting adjourn. Clerk ' Council President
