Spbkesman, i.7oro aslwd to state thoir businoss. I'.Ir. OSHa1~ statod
that tho Chamber of Comr.l'lerco desired to p~aco some signs on tho
hie;hways, asking poop1o to visit C10rrnont. IIo furthor stated that
tho cost of such signs vJOuld be (~l, 265 .00 pOI' yoar for throo' yoars,
and that the Chambor was of tho' opinion tha:ttho city should, and
sincoro1y hoped that thoy would; pay tho cost of' tho'sie;ns in addition
to tho i:~l, 000.00 customar1y al10catod to tho' Chamber. Mr.. O~rwalt-
statod that in othor words the Chamber was asking fo:r anincroaso
i11 thoir allocation of ~i.l;265.00, making a total of ~.i2,265000; for
tho next thr00 yoars. ~ir. GoorG;o pointod out to I'.Ir. Oswalt that
tho oxisting council could-not obligato futuro councils for a
contract of this natura, but that tho present council Qould'make

statod that if tho council favorod paying tho cost ,of' tho signs for t.~-..
conIDling yoar, that 11.0 ViaS in faVOl'l ',of paying such cost from tho
surplus of the fiscal yoar 1950-51. ~iir. Winston informed' the
conmitto that tho council fully roa1izod, and Ulldorstood; thoir noods,
but that they must also tako intdconsideration the noods of other
organizations and institutions in tho city nhen making up tho
coming years budget. Ho assured them, howover, that thoir roquost
would roceivo considoration. .

tho proposod location for such building was at tho foot of tho
prosont bathing pier.. 1ir. 11illican rogistorod some objoction'to this
l<bcation, stating that it would obstruct his ViOVl of tho lako.
Howover, it was poi~ted out to n~r. Millican that it would probably
boan inwossibi1ity to oroct such a building withi out partially
obstructing tho viow of somo proporty ownor, and, furthormoro, tho
building would not be unsightJ~, but would be a part of a wall
plannod boautification program. fir. Willis called tho' councils attenti
