stated thatvthe cemetary grounds were i~ deplorable oondition
on Deolaration day and that he was thoroughly ashamed of suoh
oondition. 1ne Counoil requested that Mr. Zelazo have this
oondition oorreoted at the earliest possible date~'
Motion by Cork~ seoonded by Ferguson, that the oity olerk be
authorized to destroy oertain old and worthless reoords of the
oity. Suoh reoords being namely: 1948 and prior water aooounts,
oheok stubs and oanoeled oheoks; water reoeipts, inspeotion r8CE>:!..:.~':;'
building perraits, building permit applioations; ~~gineers daily
work reports; copies of tax rolls; old lists of qualified vote~s;
tally sheets of election returns, extra audits; misoellaneous
correspqndence, clerks work sheets, W. p. A. projeot plans,
and other old and useless items. It being understood,' hovlever; th~~
all minute books; resolution and ordinance books; tax rolls;'
Court 'reoords; ledgers and ot~er reoords of like nature are to
be preserved. Hotion oarried.
A general disoussion took plaoe regarding theoondition of the
oity streets and their muoh needed repairs. Mr. Co~k suggested ,
that some resurfaoing should be done at the earliest possibl,e date,'
as ther~ were ~pparently funds available in the budget for. tha,t
,purpose. Mr. Winston suggested that it might he bennefioial to
: the oity to have a street repair orew operating separateiy from
'all. other city orew's. No action taken on either of the su'ggesti0!!~'
. Mr. Pt!oQuiston stated that Lige Hall was of the impression that
:the oity had promised to repair and clay
, some time ago, and that he would appreoiate
, this work being done as soon as possible. A' search of the minutes,'
did not disclose any such action by the oouncil;President
'Winston informed I\'Ir. McQuiston that it would be. nec'essary for
-:Lige Hall to submit a petition of adjoining property owners,to
:the oi ~,y, requesting this work before the oounoil oould take any
,:action. It being understood that all property ovmers would pay
their pro rata share of the oosts.
Mr. Cork stated that Mrs.. J~'~ssie Ruggles was continuing 1ilith
'her oomplaints regardihg the ohiokesn, being raised on the Lyman
'Wheeler property. !~yor ,Nagel stated that ~e was of the opinion
!that this condition would soon be oorreoted.
Maypr Nagel was "instruoted to look into the bad ~ewerage
oonditions on the Blanohe Ray Beauty Parlor lots.
Motion by Cork, seconded by Ferguson that tax oolleotor Jol1nson
be instruoted to prooeed with the oollection of all unpaid
personal property taxes. Motion oarried.

Clerk cJohnson was instructed to write Mr. WI. M. K ern, and inform

Mr. Winston called Mr. Zelazos' attention to the muehe needed
~ignal 'light whioh had been previously ordered installed. The
purpose of the light to be to notify the po~ioemen: that they's.J;"e
needed at the city hall ~ or on the 'phobe. . . .
