MI~NUTES OF THE REGULAR IVIEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
held at the City hall; June ~, 1951
~e ~eeting was called to ~rder by Council President
E. G. Winston at 7:30 P. M. with the ~ollow1ng
Coun~i1men present: T. C. C~rk,Jr.; W. H. McQuiston,
B. G. Ferguson. Absent C. R. Reed. Others being present
at the meeting were Mayor George Nagle;' Engineer
S~eve Zelazo~ Fire Chief Sheldon; Police Chief Anderson,
C. W. Brooks and Brad Fullwood. Mr. R. M. Castner was the
only visitor present.
Chairman Winston asked tw. Castner to state his business;
and Mr. Castner stated that he would like to offer the
city a price on the installation o:t: awnings over certain
doors and windows in the city hall. A short discussion
followed.
Motion by McQuiston, seconded by Ferguson, that ~~. Castners
offer be accepted and his firm be engaged to install the
avmings,at a price of $416.00; as soon as possible.
Motion carried.
Mr. McQuiston reported that the work on the library
was proceeding and would .be completed shortly_
Other co~ittee chairmen stated that they had nothing
to report.
Mayor Nagel reported that he had received a letter from the
Hotel Conwission to the effect that the license for the
Bronson-Kern apartments had been revoked. After a general
discussion thi~ matter was turned' over to the Mayor for
further action. Mayor Nagel offered the use of a
recording machine to the council for the recording of its
meetings. He stated that they would be welcome to use the
machine in order to d~termine if they thought such recordings
advisable. Chairman Winston thanked l~yor Nagel for the
offer, but it appeared to be the general sense of the meeting
that SUCh a trial ~ould not be made at this time~
Mayor.Nagel suggested that the police car be cleaned and
waxed.
Motion by Ferguson; seconded by McQuiston that.G.qief
Anderson have the police car clAaned and waxed. l'ilotion ~::tl"',...-ten
Mayor Nagel reported that r.lrs".. Jesse Ruggles' was complaining
that chickens being raised on the L~~n Wheeler property
were disturbing her and should be declared a nuisance.
Clerk Johnsqn read a letter from Mrs. Ruggles regarding
this mattero
Motion by Cork; seconded by McQuist&n that the lffiyors
department investigate this complaint in an effort to
deternline if it is a nuisance, and in any event to try to
adjust the mat~er to the s~tisfaction of all concerned.
Motion carried.

City Attorney Morse reported that, as previously instructed~
he had checked the titles on some of the lots which the
city was contemplatin~ offering for sale, and that he would
proceed wit~ the work as fast as possible, and that he
expected to be able to start suit to quiet title by the
first of July.
Engineer reported that the new street along lake ilinneruula
was completed and satiSfactory. All members of the council
stated that thoy had inspected the street and ~ere satisfied.
Mr. Cork reported that he was not ready to make a final
report of the revisal and reprinting ".of ordinance books.

~e city Clerk read a letter from 1flr. Sheppard, city
auditor, calling to the attention of the council that
there is a considerable amount of money in 'certain funds
in the bank which might profitably be invested in interest
bearing bOlids. He further stated that there were a numbel'"
of minor tax objections which should be taken into
consideration by the council.
Chairman Winston called a special meeting of the council
to be held at the ci ty hall, July 14, at 7 :30 P. II. to
consider the matters set forth in the letter from l~. Sheppard.
Clerk Johnson was authorized to have several fDrms, used
by the city, printed; and to make th,e purchase of a few
minor items needed in the city hall. He was further
authorized to engage a janitor to clean the city hall weekly.
Chairman Winston instructed vlerk Johnson to communicate
with Hunnicutts and Associates to determine when they would
be in Clermont to do their work.

Chairman Winston instructed Clerk Johnson to write to Mr.
Bu.rt Chester, Lake Cm.mty Health Department, and determine
when they will be prepared to spray for gnats and flies in
Clermont.

Mayor nagel was instructed to have the police force restrict
the purchase of gasoline from local filling stations to
absolute emmergencies.
Chairman Winston read a list of the accounts payable
by the city~
Eotion by Cork, seconded by McQuiston that the accou.nts be
paid. Motion carried.
Chief Anderson made his report and same was accepted.
Hotion by Cork, seconded McQuiston that Chief Andersons
request for two police caps and two Sam Brovm belts be
granted and that the chief be authorized to make the
purehases. Motion carried.
Clerk Johnson was authorized to contact Mr. T. C. Cork, Sr.,
and make a settlement of Mr. Corks water account by granting
adjustments where warranted.
Motion by NcQuiston, seconded by Ferguson that tax Collector
Johnson be instructed to advertise delinquent t~~ property
for sale in the local paper for four consecutive weeks,
startinb :une 7th.; and that the sale for delinquent tax
property be helt at the city hall on July 2, 1951 at 11 A.lI.
Motion carried.
Fire Chief Sheldon made his report and same was accepted.
Motion by Ferguson, seconded by Cork, that Fire chief Sheldon
be authorized to have some signs; reading "FOR FIRE ONLY"

Chairman Winston called the councils attention to the improvemen1
being made at the J. C. park and the baseball field. He. ~
further stated that the council should be giving consideration .
as to the proper person to be engaged by the city as their 24
hour fireman and radio operator. Ho then called their attRntion
to the fact that it would be necessary to replace Mr. C. . Reed.
on the council; and that they should give serious consideration '
to this matter.
