03-29-2007 Joint Meetingn U Minutes CJ City of Clermont, Florida Police Officers/Firefighters Pension Board of Trustees Joint Meeting March 29, 2007 Meeting started at 9:00 a. m. in the Clermont City Hall conference Room No. 332. Police Officers' trustees present were Keith Mullins, Mike Scheller, Mike Blackmon, Les Booker and David Lofgren. Firefighters' trustees present were Keith Mullins, Kevin Rausch, Russ Stromberg, Frank Maglione and Harold Cummings. Administrative Services Director Joe Van Zile and Paul Shamoun with the Florida League of Cities were also present. Minutes of the December 1, 2006 Firefighters' Pension meeting minutes were approved. Motion by Keith Mullins and seconded by Harold Cummings. Minutes of the December 8, 2006 Firefighters Pension meeting minutes were approved. Motion by Keith Mullins and seconded by Russ Stromberg. Minutes of the December 8, 2006 Police Officers Pension meeting minutes were approved. Motion by Keith Mullins and seconded by Les Booker. Mr. Shamoun discussed changes involving both plans regarding the in-line disability compensation and benefit accrual rate increases. There was also discussion regarding a 20 year and out provision for the Firefighters. After considerable discussion, the following motions were discussed: The Firefighters Pension Board recommends the City and the Firefighters union discuss during the collective bargaining process the benefit changes of increasing the in-line disability compensation from 42% to 66% of salary and adding an unreduced retirement benefit at any age upon the attainment of 20 years of service and increasing the benefit accrual rate to 3.50% for all years of service. Motion by Keith Mullins and seconded by Harold Cummings. Motion passed 5-0. The Police Officers Pension Board recommends the City and the Police Officers union discuss during the collective bargaining process the benefit changes of increasing the in-line disability compensation from 42% to 66% of salary and increasing the benefit accrual rate to 3.50% for all years of service. Motion by Keith Mullins and seconded by Mike Scheller. Motion passed 5-0. Mike Blackmon brought up a concern regarding the wording in the DROP provisions. Mr. Shamoun said he would check into it and report back to the boards. • Mr. Shamoun also indicated that he would be available for educational presentations to the plan members regarding the pension benefits.
