01-17-1950 Regular Meeting MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING <F THE CITY COUNCIL HELD AT THE CITY HALL Tuesday January 17, 1950. President Ao M. Johnson called the meeting to order 7:30 P. M. Also present, councilmen R. M. Castner, W H McQuistion, C R Reid and E G Winston. Mayor H T Williams, City Atty I F Morse, Engineer S L Zelazo, Marshall R F Anderson, Fire Chief A. Sheldon J B Fullwood and T C Cork. -~ -., Mr Johnson read a report of the General Budget and Finances ~ the C'i ty so the newly installed members ~ the Council might have' a more complete understanding of the City buisness. Mr Cork, asked the Council to cancel present leases on Blocks 103 and 104~ Indian Hills and draw a new lease for Cecil Todd. Moved by Mr Castner, Gity cancel lease on blocks 103 & 104 Indian Hills, and issure new one to Mr Cecil Todd. Motion Eleconded by Mr VVinston and carried. MaFor's report, suggestions and recommendations read. Moved by Mr ~,~cQuistion City purchase seat covers and door panels for Police car, cost not to exceed $39.50. Seconded by Mr Winston and carried. Moved by Mr Winston, seconded by Mr Reid and carried, that City employ a man to act as police relief, at $6.00 per day and :~6.00 per night. Moved by Mr Winston seconded by Mr Reid and carried that two parking spaces on 7th St from Montrose. to Mr Schlott's Stud:to be marked one hou~ parking. Cornnittee to meet with Mr Smith Wed. 1 P.M. to work out problem of garbage disposal. Mr Williams offered to act on commi tt'ge in place of Mr Castnero Letter from Mr Cantwell, Chairman ~ Kiwanis Seat Project read. !VIr C'astner rescinded previous motion, prohibiting benches on City Sidewalks, Mr Winston rescinded second. Clerk to adivse Mr Cantwell that the City will take no part in this project. Mr Winston to take up offer of Earl Fain and other property owners to get at Alley back of the stores on Montrose, next to the Clermont Press Building, from 8th to 7th %treets. Park Committee to work out suitable schedule for Tennis Court. Fire Chief reported they had funds to purchase a new 2! inch Fog Gun. Fire Committee to work with Mr Sheldon, on'this, and report at next meeting. Police report read. Traffic lights to be raiaed. ~ ~ Atty Morse to prepare a letter for Mayor'S signature, asking for a Highway Patrolman in this area. Moved by Mr '~Vinston, seconded by Mr Reid and carried that 'I'rucks be prohibited from using Orange and Second Sts, b~ School, and ask Pomona Products Co. to co-operate. Moved by Mr Castner, seconded by Mr Winston and carried that the Street Connnittee work out a Route to get trucks through City other than OsceolaSt. Moved by Mr Wtnston seconded by Mr Castner and carried that City Draw check for Lake County Health Dapt, for $900.00 for In8ect Control. Moved by Mr Winston, seconded by Mr Reid and carried that City pay Clermont Auto Sales $895.00 for Police Car, and L V Ba1:er ~10.00 for painting signs on car. Moved by Mr Winston seconded by Mr Castner and carried that bill far C it Shewey for surveying lots 35 and 36 Clermont Hts ~~45.00 be paid. Moved by Mr R~1d, seconded by Mr McQuistion that the Chamber of Commerce allotment for advertising, $300.00 less cost of typewriter be paid. Carried. Moved by Mr Castner, seconded by Mr Reid Meeting Adjourn. 1Y1 ~~~ City Clerk ~- .,- ~ ~ ~~ .., .~ RlS0LUTION WHEREAS, in April 1941 the City of Clermon t by and through its City Council authorized the Sun Chevrolet Company, Inc., to use a portion ~,f ,Minneolal\venue between the North curb line and the South property .1 ine of Lots 12, 14 and 16 of Block 93 occording to the officiul rr.ap'f the Ci.ty of Clermont for a used car lot for a consideration of $1.00 per year for a period of five years from date th~reof; and V~1ERE~S, the Sun Chevrolet Comnany, Inc., a Florida corporation doinSI businesr in the City of Clermont, County of Lake and State? of Florida, has agoin re~ucsted the City Council of the City of Clerm0nt to authorize the continual use of said property and have used said rroperty hereinabove described sinc~ the expiration of said Resolution to and including the date herelof~ and l-ILREAS, 5. tis necessary that said Company continue to use said premises on ~hich they have built a used car shed for the furth,r purpose of installing concrete in the West section thereof to be usee as a v.a sh shed; and ':HEHEAS, the City of Clermont is will ing to grant per- mission for the continued use of said premises as a used car lot and wash shed for a period ~f five years from date h~reof upon pay- ment of the sum of $1.00 ~er year since the expiration thereof and in advance, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED tt- -3t th!' ~,un Chevrolet Company, rnc., of the City of Clermont is hereby gr~nted for a period of five years from date hereof and in consideration of the sum of $1.00 per year, payable in advance, the use of th:t unpaved portion of Minneola .Avenue lying North of the present curb line and South of the South boundary of said Lots 12, 14 and 16 of Block 93, provided that siaid use and occupancy of said premises does not extend beyond the cu:rb line and that such use and occupancy of said premises will in no way obstruct or hinder the present use of the presEnt paved portion of of Minneola Avenue and will at all times keep the said building ~ .'W' and the premises in a clean, sanitary and a condition of good repair and will not allow anything to accumulate on said premises that will in any way deteriorate from the looks and appearances of said street and adjoining properties; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Clermont shall reserve unto themselves the right at any time by giving 90 days written notice to the said Sun Chevrolet Compan~, Inc., to revoke the rights of said company to the use of said premises and if without notice the City of Clermont, the State Road Department of the State of Florida or any other agency of the State of Florida shall require the use of said premises for a state highway, the said Sun Chevrolet COmpany, Inc., shall agree to immediately remove the used car shed and all concrete installed North of the curb line of said street and any other cons- truction on said premises and to further cease the use of said premises in any manner whatsoever. ............
