09-06-1949 Regular Meeting MINUTES OF THE RIDULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD AT CITY HALL, Tt1esday September 6, 1949. " Jleeting called to order 7:30 P. M. by Pres. R. M. Castner. Also pre sent, A. Y. Johnson, GA Nash, and E G Winston, COWlcilmen. Mayor H R Harper, City Atty I F Morse, wm Kie R F Anderson and Engineer S L Zelazo. Vick Oswalt asked to inclade Center Lake in the project for the Lions Clab. lloved by Mr Nash seconded by Mr Johnson that the Lions Clab have Center Lake same as Sparkling Water Lake. Motion Carried. ~ ~ lIayor's report. llr Wilkins asked to be allowed to erect six directional signs for the Lake Highlands Hotel. Moved by Mr Winston seconded by Mr Nash that the Lake Highlands be permitted to pat ap six small directional signs not over 18 x 6 inches. Mr Wilkins to present type of signs to Counell for approval. Mot ion carried. Mr Ashton declared he started 8S a "Hobby Shop", bat now has & state License for the Man~facture of Lamps. Police report read. Atty Report and Fire Chief reports read. Mayor Harper thanked Mr Colegrove for moving the City Flag Pole. Moved by Mr Winston seconded by Mr Johnson that two street" lights be '1nstalle d on Orange Ave, ('one at East & Orange. ) Engineers ~eport. Moved, by Mr Winston seconded by Mr Johnson and carried that Mr Zelazo be impowered to buy the three tools mentioned in his report. That is, one Electric Grind stone, one Vice and one t inch electric drill. Mr Johnson recommended adhering to rale 14, regarding meeting,s. Mr KOnsler will raise the Tennis Court Back stop by the Cormnun1ty B~11ding for $30.00. llr Johnson to take care of the Tennis Court matter. ~ ~ llr zelazo instructed to clear piling oat of Lake l41nneola at the foot of 8th st and the foot of 5th st. MOved by ur Winston that the Badget be accepted as a g~ide post for 1949-50, seconded by Mr Nash, and all councilmen being in favor motion carried. Moved by Jir W1nst en seconded boy Mr Johnson and unanimoasly agreed, millage for taxes be set, 11 mills for Bond Debt Sen ice and 14 mills for Operating expense. Motion carried. lloved by Nr Nash seconded by llr Winston that the wages of the man working for the City be raisid to 75 cants per ho~r. Carried. Moved by Mr Winston that the East side of 8th at between Montrose and Osceola be parallel parking. and the West side of 7th st between Montrose and DeSoto be parallel parking, seconded by llr Johnson. Motion c'arried. Moved by Mr Winston , seconded by Mr Johnson that the bills be paid when fWlds are Qva,ilable. Motion carried. Mo~ed by Mr Nash seconded by Mr Winston that the meeting adjourn.
