06-21-1949 Regular Meeting Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the City Council held at city Hall, Tuesday -June 7, 1949..- Meeting called to arderby President R. M. Castner 7:30 P.M. Also present, Councilmen A.M.Johnson, G A Nash, F B Roe and E G Winston. Mayor H R Harper, Atty I F Morse, City Supt A G Cole, Marshall C A Mattson and J B Fullwood. Minutes of the May 3rd and 17th meetings read and approved. Mayor's report. Ed Stack reported on the activities of the recreation committee. Emily Moore and Ailene Britton employed as recreation directors for two months for the summer. To be paid two weeks salary in July 5th meeting, one month August 1st and two weeks the middle of August. Moved by Mr Roe, seconded by Mr Nash City crew remove dock from Lake Minneola at the foot of 8th Street. Motion carried. Mr Roe to write owner of boat house at Ft of 8th St to remove the Same. Street light to be installed at Chestnut and 8th Streets. Atty rep<r t. Moved by Mr Winston seconded by Mr Johnson that Mrs Moncrief be allowed to remove Oak Tree on the City r/w in front of her house on 6th street. Motion earried. Moved by Mr Winston, seconded by Mr Nash that the bills be paid. Motion carried. Meeting called to order by R M Castner, president, 7:30 P.M. Also present, Councilmen A M Johnson, GA Nash and E G Winston. Mayor H R Harper, Atty I F Morse, A G Cole and J B Fullwood. Mayor's report. Night police employed. Sam Doto, salary $175.00 per month. WID Kie put on as day police at a salary of $200.00 per month. Mr Castner appointed Mr Johnson to w~k on setting up the 1949-50 Budget. Mr Harper asked to have an ordinance drawn up requiring non resident solicitors register with the police or City Clerk. An Ordinance to be drawn prohibiting temporary stand business in the Fire Zone Area. Mr Cole reported that the pier at the foot ~ 8th St had been removed. Nancy Hill Est. house is under repair. Curb at 5th and Highland re-installed. Moved by Mr Johnson seconded by Mr Nash that Mr Cole hire another man for the City work, for as long as one is needed. Motion carried. Moved by Mr Johnson seconded by Mr Nash and carried that the City Atty draw up the ordinance requested by Mayor Rapper. Mc~ting called Tuesday June 28th at 7:30 P. M. to go over the tax roll.
