09-07-1948 Regular Meeting MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COunCIL HELD AT CITY HALL Tuesday September ?, 194&. Meeting called to order by President R. M. Castner ?:30 P. M. Also present, J. V. Brice, G. A. Nash, T. F. Thompson, City Attorney I. F. Morse, Mayor H. R. Harper, City Supt A.G.Cole Chief C A Mattson and J. B. Fullwood. -~ -~'-,- Minutes of the August meetings read and approved. Mayor's report read. Recapping of Montrose and 12th Streets to City Limits, promised by St Road Dept. Marshall, City Atty and Fire Chiefs reports read. H.M.Co1e to be given an additional $10.00 fer Fire School exp. An Ordinance entitled - "AN rn DINANCE AMENDING SECTION ? OF IDHAPTER XI~l OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES (F THE CITY OF CLERMONT, RELATING TO THE OCCRPATIONAL LICENSE TAXES OF THE CITY CF CLERMONT, FLORIDA. as read in full. Moved by Mr Brice:, seconded by Mr Thompson Ordinance be adopted, and when put to a vote, the Motion carried. Mr Brice then moved that the rules be wai~ed, and the Ordinance read the second time by its title only. The motion was seconded by Mr Thompson and carried unanimously. After the se,cond reading, Mr Brice moved that the rules be further waived, and that the Ordinance be read a third time and placed upon its passage. The motion was seconded by Mr Thompson and carried. Thereupon the Ordinance was read iri full and upon passage of same the roll was called with the following results: Ayes - Mr Castner Mr Nash, Mr Brice and Mr Thompson. Noes - none. Absent Mr Roe. The Ordinance was passed, title as stated and was ordered eecorded in the Ordinance Book and numbered Ordinance 83. A 'copy of the Ordinance in full appears in this book, following these minutes. An Ordinance entitled - -~ "- "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING A TAX IEVY ON PROPERTY IN 'I'HE CITY OF CLERMONT FOR THE YEAR 1948; PROVIDING A BUDGET OF EXPENSES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1948-49 AND MAKING APPROPRIATIONS THEREFORE. The Ordinance was passed, title as stated and was ordered recorded in the Ordinanc:e Book and numbered Ordinance 84. Motion made by Mr Nash, seconded by Mr Brice that Ernest Smith be given lease Lake Shore, on Lots 8-9-10 block 2? and lot 6 block 28, Crystal Lake. Motion carried. Letter from T. C. Cork read regarding the damaged truck top belonging to Ed Nolan, City Attorney to take care ~ this matter. Motion made by Mr Brice, seconded by Mr Nash that the bills be Mr Hull to be paid as soon as the well is passed on te~t to be made. W~ ater rates to be lowered to worthy poor folks.
