05-18-1948 Regular Meeting ~ --- ---'., REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD AT CITY HALL Tuesday May 18, 1948. Meeting called to Order at 7:30 PM. by President R. M. Castner. Councilmen present, J.V.Brice, G.A.Nash, F.B.Roe~ and T. F. , Thpmpson. City Attorney I. F. Morse, Mayor H.R.narper, City Supt A."G. Cole, Marshall C.A.Mattson, Mrs Brice, Mr Ebinger, Mr Boyd, Mr Shepard and J.B.Fullwood. Mrs Brice and Mr Ebinger, representing the Local School Board, asked the City Council for certain l~s in blocks 100, 109 and 126A, Indian Hills, for a new High School Sight. Motion made by Mr Brice, seconded by Mr Thompson that the City Council designate this area, for a school sight, with the proviso that if not used for that purpose it will go back to the City. If part of this property is needed for the new Highway, that portion is to be re-deeded to the City free ~ charges. Mr Nash made an amendment that the time be limited to two years. Mr Morse suggested the Council pass a Resolution being in f~vor ~ granting the School Board this property. Mr Brice withdrew his moti9n, Mr Thompson his second and Mr Nash his amendment in favor of this suggestion. Motion made by Mr Brice, seconded by Mr Roe, that the Resolution appended to these minutes be accepted and passed. Motion carried. Motion made by Mr Roe, seconded by Mr Brice that the Council employ Mr Shepard, to make a monthly check and an Annual Audit, ~~~~~~X of the City Books and records. Motion c~rried. Mr Burke Chester spoke on spraying to kill mosquitos and other insects. Motion made ~ Mr Thompson seconded by MrRoe that the Council appropriate $200.00 to the County Commissioner for D.D.T. Spray. Motion carried. Mr Cole suggested it was necessary to take c.are of the dumping grounds and that a Dozer would be available. Motion made by Mr Brice seconded by Mr Thompson that Mr Cole have the Dozer used to cover the City Dump. Carried. Mr Cole reported that the City purchased the "Gibson" Survey Field books, numbers 1 to 25 inclusive, for the sum of $1500 and that these books are in the Vault in City Hall. Mr Morse suggested the City clean up sight of the old barn, for the protection of children passing through property. .- Mr Harper agreed to have the old observation tower removed from the lots on Fifth Street. Mr Roe offered the City Vigoro Fertilizer for the parks, Library grounds and cemetery, at cost. Councilmen asked Mr Roe to order three tons. Motion made by Mr Nash seconded by Mr Brice that the meeting adjourn.
