12-02-1947 Regular Meeting MINUTES) OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE' CITY COUNCIL HELD AT CITY HALL TUESDAY DECEMBER 2, 1947, _ 7:30 P. M. ~ Meeting was called to order by President R. M. Castner. Other C0uncIlmen~esent were J. V. Brice, T. F. Thompson, A. M. Johnson'and J. F. Macdonald.' Also present were City Attty T. C. Cork, Mayor McQuIstion, Engineer A. G. Cole, Water Cupt H. M. Cale and Street Supt J. B. Fullwood. MInutes of November 4th and 18th meetings were read and approved. ,. Mmtibnsmade by Mr Brice, seconded by Mr Thompson that the City furnish power to light up Christmas light decorations as outlined bj"'Mr JGne's~ representing the J'Wlior Chamber of Commerce. Motion carried. ~ --.r Motion made by Mr Thompson seconded by Mr Brice th~t Thomas and Jackson be allowed to operate'a'wood yard'on the sight or the old woed yard, Highland Ave. from 8:00 A. M. to 6:00 P. M. Motion carried. Motion made 'by Mr Johnson, seconded b~ Mr'Macdonald' that the City Occupational License Fee be ~10.00 per year for packing houses for Express Shipments only. Motion carried. Mr Connley of the DUncan Meter Corporation appeared before the City Council ana gave an outline of the Cempany's policy as far as the' contraot with the 'City could be given. He also stated that the Company would- co-operate with the City Officials in the placing of the meters and give 'any other assistance to see that the Meters were a success. M<i>tion made by Mr Br.ice s8condedby'Mr Macdonald that Chief of Police'C. E. Sullins' resignation to take affect 'December 10th 1947, be accepted,wi~h,regret. Mot~on carried. Motion made bY Mr Brice seconded by'Mr Johnson that 1000 ballots be printed for the election, with names of Qualified Petitioners. Advisory Vate, "Do you favor 2 mills for Advertising Fuild." Yes - No - , to appear thereon. Motion carried. City Council advises that any one'in the City Limits who wishes vacant lots mowed, ap~ly to the City Clerk for this service. The rates will be $3.00 per hour. $2.00 minimum charge. Motion made by Mr Macdonald seconded by Mr Johnson that'Mr Cole furnish the Engineer in .DeLand, of the new Highway, with a ohart of all new water liDes and seWWI' liDes'crossing this Highway in the Oi ty of Clermont. Mot ion carried ~ Motien made by Mr MaCdonald, seconded by Mr Brice, that Louis Belcher be 'granted license until May for Dry Cleaning, ~ Highla'nd Ave. Motion carried.
