11-04-1947 Regular Meeting MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD AT THE CITY HALL rUESDAY. NOVEMBER 4, 1947. 7:30 P.M. .".- o.'W' T he meeting was called to order by President R.~.Castner. Other councilmen present F.J.Macdonald, J.V.Br~ce, A. M. . Johnson. Mayor McQuistion, Marshall C.E.Sullins, E~gineer A. G. Cole, Atty. T.C. Cork, St Supt J.B.Fullwood, ater Supt H .If. Cole. Minutes of the October 7th and 21st meetings were read and approved. A.G.Cole presented a copy of the City cf Clermont Map which he has drawn up complete enough for the Zoning Eommittee to work on. Mr Cole is complimented on his fine work. Marshall reported seven 'arrests and fines and forfeitures in the amount of $95.00 turned over to the City Clerk. Fire Chief reported, during the month ~ October there was one grass fire on East Ave. No dam~ge done. Firemen answer- ing the call, A.L.Sheldon, Tom Kinnley, Buck Crews, Jud Seaver, J.B.Fullwood, H.M.Cole. Had burned out lights on Fire ~ruck replaced and body built on top for new hose which should arrive any day. Truck in good condition. Application of Fred Nelson, read, for Chief of Police. Tabled. A letter signed by a number of Clermont Business men was read, ~etitioning the City Council to 'defer action on installing the arking Meters. Atty Cork advised that the City Councilmen could not do this unless the Company furnishing these meters release the City from its Contract. A motion was made by Mr Brice, seconded by Mr Thompson that the C6up:cl!;~tg~t in touch with the Parking Meter Company, and ask them to cancel the Contract, and give the Citizens of Clermont an opportunity to vote on it Election Day. Upon taking a Roll Call vote, the result was as follows - Ayes - Mr ~ohnson, Mr Brice, Mr Thompson. No s - Mr astner, Mr Macdonald. Motion carried, and Mayor McQuistion instructed to contact the Duncan Meter Corporation. Letters from F. J. Banning, County Supt of Schools read and ordered tabled. Engineer Cole asked to see what could be done to relieve the condition of the steep grade of Mr Wheeler's drive way, on Osceola St. Clerk instructed to buy ~~500.00 Bond with interest held by B.J.Van Ingen & Co. Inc. Motion made by Mr Johnson, seconded by Mr fhompson that the minutes of the City Council mmetings be published in the Clermont Press, at a charge of $5.00 per meeting. Motion carried. ~ c~ Mayor to take care of Janitor Service for the Connnunity Building as in the past. Mr Macdonald suggested raising the salary of City Engineer for the rest of this year. I'ction on this tabled until the next meeting to give Mr Cole time to consider it. Mr Cole reported he had an estimate of 50i per corner to paint the names on Street corners. This was ordered tabled. Motion w~s made by Mr Brice, seconded by Mr Macdonald, CoMncil amend paragraph five of October 21st meeting to read, - rhat such folders and other advertising matter be presented by the' Chamber of Commerce, for the approval of the City Council, Motion carried. Motion was made by Mr Brice seconded by Mr Thompson that Atty Cork draw up - Order of Election Notices and Necessary papers for the City Election. Motion carried. Mr Brice made a motion seconded by Mr Thompson that the bills be paid when funds are available. Monion carried.
