MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF TIrE CITY COUNCIL HELD
AT CITY HALL. TUESDAY OCTOBER 21, 1947, 7:30 P. M.

Meeting was called to order by President R.M.Castner.
Other councilmen present were ~. F. Macdonald, J. V. Brice,
T. F. Thompson, A. M. Johnson. Mayor McQuistion, Marshall
C. E. Sullins,> Engineer A. G. Cole, Water Sup't H. M. Cole,
and Sup't of Streets J. B. Fullwood.
Bids received on tires for the police car were read. Motion
made by Mr Brice seconded by Mr Macdonald the City purchase
the tires ax specified in the quotation from Judy Garage.
Motion carried.

Discus,sed buying new machinery to be used by the Street Dept.
Mr Williams a City Councilman from Jacksonville was introduced
and answering various questions on their experience using this
ty~ ~ machinery, spoke highly in favor of it. Motion was
made by Mr Johnson seconded by Mr Thompson, City purchase a
Case Tractor, Mower and Sweeper. Upon taking Roll Call Vote
the results were as follows -
Ayes - Mr Johnson, Mr Thompson, Mr Castner, Mr Brice.
No s - Mr Macdonal~. Motion carried.
Mr Castner sugges.ts City pay the Chamber c.t' Commerce $25.00
for a,n "Ad" printed in the program for the Fox Hunt. Motion
made by Mr Brice, seconded by Mr Macdonald this be paid.
Motion carried. '
Mr Wolfe, Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce spoke on the
advantages of advertising the City ~ Clermont, through the
Chamber of Co~merce, by folders, which project will amount
to near $1000.00. Motion made by Mr Brice, seconded by Mr
Macdonald, the City appropriate $1000.00 for advertising
folders, Upon taking Roll Call Vote, the results were as
follows -
Ayes - Mr Johnson, Mr Thompson, Mr Macdonald, Mr Brice.
No s - Mr Castner. Motion carried.
Councilmen discussed the subject of installing Parking
Meters in the Streets of the City of Clermont. A motion
was made by Mr Macdonald, seconded by Mr Thompson that
Parking Meters be installed. Upon taking ROll Call Vote
the results were as follows -
Ayes - R.M.Castner, J.F.Macdonald, J.V.Brice, T.F.Thompson.
No s - A. M. Johnson. Motion carried.

otion waS made by Mr Brice, Seconded by Mr Thompson, ity
~ncrease Mr McQuistion's salary as assistant City Clerk
~50.00 per month, retroactive to October 1st. Motion carried.
Mr Johnson asked the City Council to define the hours ~
closing liguor stores. The Ordinance was read, stating the
hours to be from Eight (8:00) A. M. to (12:~0) Midnight,
except said places ~ business shall close at 12:00 P. M.
Saturday and remain closed until eight (8:00) A. M. the
following Monday.
Mr Williams expressed his pleasure at being with us. Mr
Castner thanked Mr Williams f~ coming, and giving the
Council much valuable information.

Mr A. G. Cole advises the Council there are a great number
of places in the City where sidewalks are badly in need of
repairs. City Clerk to notify property owners to make these
repairs .
There being no further business, the Council adjourned, to
meet at the call of the President.
