MInUTES OF THE REGULAR IiffiETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD
AT THE CITY HALL TUESDAY, JULY 15, 1947, 7:30 P.M.

The meeting was called to- ,order by president R.M.
Castner, other Councilmen present being J.V.Brioe; J~
Macdonald, emd~2.E~ml-"~. Also present were Mayor
McQuistion, Atty T.C.Cork, Engineer A.G.Cole; Assessor
G.A.Nash, Water Supt. H.M.Cole, st. Supt J.B.Fullwood,
and City Caerk R.F.House.
Obrien Etheredge was present and asked the Council
for an unloading zone and parking space in front of his
hotel. Mr. Brice made a motion, seconded by Macdonald
andcarriedj that all Hotels in the City be allowed a
two-space parking z~ne in front of each. '
~~. Etheredge presented a petition signed by ten
people, to stop building City Garage at the north end of
West Ave., on account of cutting off the Lake view, which
would depreciate the value of their property. No action
waS taken.
Mr. Harper presented a petition signed by 57 people,
representing the Retail Merchants Association of the
Chamber of Commerce, asking the Council to, provide Publio
'Rest Rooms in or near the Business D~strict.' The Council
discussed it for a short time and asked Mr Harper time for
them to carefully consider the matter.
A 'letter was read, asking the Council to ~top the use
of the Park for getting water and ,mixing spray materials,
and leaving spray 'material cans int he Ja~Cee Park on
Lake Minneola. The Mayor was instructed to have it stopped.
A letter from Mr McCaffrey about, restricted parking
in front of the Air Konditioning Cq and Flo~ida Power
Corp., but no action was taken. ,.
The Clerk was instructed to write Mrs. Brantly about
the dirt on the walk in front of her property on Minneola
Ave. between Seventh and Eighth Streets.
Mr. Brice made amotion, seconded by Mr. Macdonald
and carried, that three spaces ,in front of the Post-Office
be marked "15 Minute Barking".
Two Baptist Ministers had asked M~or McQuistion
permisi~n to conduct a Bible School at the corner of
Seventh and Montrose Streets from July 28th to Aug. 10th.
Mr. Macdon,ald made a motion, seconded by Mr. Brice, and
Carried, jrhat the permission be granted.
The matter of appointing a Municipal Judge was
postponed until Mr. MoQuistion could find out how other
Cittes were handling the matter.
~~. Cork was instructed to get laws ooneerning Fire-
exits for Theater.

Mr. Nash presented the 1947 tax-roll, :which was to
be checked over before any action taken on it.
There was discussion of the accident tQ the folics
Car, and of the Insurance policy..

-only the Councilmen and Mayor pre~ent. '
