MILNUTES OF THE: REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD
AT THE CITY HALL TUESDAY; JULY 1, 1947, 7:30 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by the president, R.M.
Castner, other Councilmen pressent being J.V.Brloe, A.M.
Johnson, J.F.Macdonald, and T.F.Thompson. Alro present
were Mayor McQuistion, Mashal C.E.Sullins, City Atty T.C.
Cork, ~gineer A.G.Oie, and City Clerk R.H~House.
Minutes of themee~ings June 3rd and 17th were read
and approved.
Mr. Stanley & Mr Westcott, Visit&~s were present, but
had nothing to bring before the Council.
Mr, Cork ~tated that both Acts prepared by him for the
Sta te Legislature had passed, He Alro stated that the
Injunctlon against the City Officials in ~egard to the sale
of lot S, block 91, had been vacated and the Suit dismissed
by the Court. He had prepared a lease to the Athletic
Association on blocks 5 and 6, which was read,. and the
Mayor and City Clerk were instructed to sign same~
The ~~or's RePort was rea~n which he reported the
activities of the Police Dept.; also that on June 27th
considerable damage was done to the tolice Car in an
accident, but blltat no report of settlement by the Insurance
Co. had been received, but would expect one soon.
The Marshal reported seven arrests, one case dismissed;
and fines and forfeitures in the amount of'$155.00 turned
over to the. City Clerk..
The.Fire Chief reported no fire calls in June, but that
the motor, pump and tires were chechecked ttwice during
the month, and found O.K. Also that the battery was
charged twice.
A letter from ~o. Stuart in regard to an "Adresstre~tte
was read, andwas ordered tabled.
Complaints about the odor from Sullin's ch~ckens were
received from Mr. Rose and from the Baptist Parsonage~
Mr. Cork read the Ordinance about Nuisances, and said
the people had recourse to law, K~n"ij~Jf
Motion was made by Macdonald, seconded by Johnson and
carried, that the City Clerk notify Fe rguson, Mrs.Ro~o,
and Albert Braddock to make a case in the Cktty Court.
It was stated that Mr.Kern' property (roominghouse)
had been clpsed up by Mr. Archer, State Hotel commission,
and Mr Cork WaS instructed to draw up a resolution that
the place is urifit for Habitation.

Mr. Cork pre~ented a bill for services in.re-
Disolve Injunction in case o~ Johnathan Middleton vs.
City of Clermont. He was in~tructed to have the Judge
get Middleton to pay the Bill.
Mr. McQuistion announced that July 8th, 8:00 P.M.
would be CLERMONT DAY a t the Leesburg ball park, ..,a t w~ich
no admission charge would be made Clermont folks.
After some discussion of the Sale of lot 8, block 91
Mr. Thompson made a motion, seconded by Mr. Johns on, that
the City sell the lot to Mr. Sullins for $300.00,[!ith the
(provision that a building be completed on the lot within

Mr. Castner was to see Mr. Kreider about the insurance
on the wrecked police Car. Mr. Macd<hnald madea.motion,
seconded by Brice and carried, the the Cit advance Mr. ~otts
$100.00 if needed'for his daughters hospital expense.
The following bills were ordered paid when money is availabm.
on motion of Brice, seconded by Macdonald.
