MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE crn COUNCIL ilELD
AT THE CITY' HALL TUESDAY, JUIm 3rd, 194'7, '7:30 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by the president,
R.M.Castner, othe Councilmen present being J.V.arice, J.F.
Maodonald, and A.M. Johnson. Also present were Mawor
W.H.McQuistion, Marshal C.E.Su11ins, Engineer A.G~Cole,
Water Supt. H.M.Co1e, Street Supt. J.B.Fuulwood, City Atty
T.C.Cork, and City Clerk R.F.House.~~f~/~t~
Minutes of the May meetings were read and approved.

r~. & Mrs Ferguson were present, and stated that an
odor had been bothering them for several months, which they
believed was due to Mr. Sullins chickens, andthat something
would have to be done about it. Mayor McQuistion had been
down there, and could not notice any bad odor, but suggested
covering ohicken yard with lime. Mr. Brice stated that he
could not notice any odor in the cjicken house, but there was
fromt he cow pen. Mr. Sullins stat ed that MD. Ferguson
had kept more than 100 ehiokens at his p1aoe when he WaS
running a grocery store. Atty Cork said the~State Law
provided that any thing that was unsanitary or created a
nuisance, oou1d be abated.
The matter of the unemployed meeting herewith the
State Unemployment msn was disoussed, and if the roam was
not taken care of, write the Industrial Commission at
Tallahassee.
Mr. Neal representing Smith & Gillespie statedt hat
his Party had oompleted the survey for the sewer system
in areas 1 and 2, and 10oation of the treatment plant near
blooks 145 and 146, and reoommended that the City aquire
that proper~- about 4 aores needed ultimately.
Counoilman Thompson came in at 9:00 P.M.
Mr. Johnson made a motion that the City Attorney write
Smith and Gillespie to go ahead with the plan. The motion
waS seoonded by Mr. Maodonald and carried
In regard to the injunotion to the City offioials not
to sell lot 8, block 91 to C.E.Su11ins, Atty Cork stated that
the meeting was illegal, when the lot was sold, as no written
notice had been sent each member of the Council at least
five hours before t?e meeting, and that one member was ~~~~~~
A.G.Co1e asked that two flood lights be put on the
City dookat the north end of Eighth Street, but no action
was taken.
City Attorney Cork was instruoted to write the Florida
Power Corporation, in reference to the interuption of
eleotric service whenever it rains.
C.~.Gaines was to be offered the Valencia Orangtes
o,~ed by the City in Lincoln Park.
Mr. Johnson made a motion, seoonded by Mr. Maddonald
and oarried that the following Itst o~ bills be paid when
money is available.
There being no further busines at this time the
Counoil adjourned, to meet at the oall of the pres,ident.
