MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD AT THE
CITY HALL TUESDAY, APRIL 1st, 1947, 7:30 P.M.?
The meeting was called to order by the president, R.M.
Castner, other CoUncilmen present being J.V.Brice~. A.M.Johnson,
and J.F.Macdonald. Mayor McQuistion, City Atty i.C.Cork,
Marshall C.E.Sullins, Ci~ Engtneer A.G.Cole, Water Supt. H.M.
Cole, and City Clerk R.F.Hou~e were also present.
Minutes of the meetings March 4th, lOth and lath were read
and approved.
Mr. Kreider, representing the Stokes & Fields Insurance
Agency was present and explained tre advisability of increasing
the amount of Insurance on the City Hall and Library Building.
Mr. Brice made a motion, seconded b1 Mr. Macdonald and oarried
that the insuranoe be increasea to ~lO,OOO on the City Hall,
and to $l,OOO on th! Equipment and fire hose; am on the
Library Building to $1500 J and on th.e Books ane'!. Equipment to
$1,000, and that both po~icies run for 5 years.
Mr. conly, representing the Duncan Meter Co. made a
proposition to install parking meters in Clermont, and left
copies of a contract to be sighed, regarding use of am payment
for Bame. Mr. Brice made a motion, seconded by Mr. Johnson
and carried, that the rna tter be tabled until the Council can
@!) t the reaction of the publio~ ; andthat the City Clerk put
a notice in the Clermont.Press, calling the attention of
the public to t~e matter.
The Mayor's Report was read. In March there i were 22
arrest, 5 cases dismissed, one carried over fram February, and
$3l0.00 in fines and forfeitures turned over to the Cit,y Clerk.

The Marshal's Report was the same as the Mayor's, except
~ reported one prisoner worked six days on streeet.
Engineer's Report stated all work progressing satisfact-
orily.
Fire Chief reported one fire eall and the fire-truck used
to control a fire in block 21, and one in block 11, Sunset Hts.
The battery Was checked each week and charged as needed.
W. E. Rorabaugh asked for a Change in zone, in block 25,
and his letter was turned over to J.V.Brice to be considered
wi th other changes in the Zoning Ordinance.
Ma;v or McQuistion made a report on the meeting of the Lake
County League of MuniCiPalities held at Eustis March 27th.
Mr. Brice na de a motion, seconded by Mr. Johnson that tm
City send a check to the Florida League of Municipalities for
$25.00, according to contract for services at the coming State
Legisla ture. When put to a vote, the motion carried.
The subject of fire escapes in hotels was discuseed, and
Mr. Brice made a motion, seconded by Mr. Johnson, tha t the City
Attorney draw up an adequate ordi~~8e far fire safety. When
put to a vote, the moti on carried.
Mr. Brice nude a motion, seconded by Macdonald, and carried
that the Ci~ buy a Beasley power mower @ $375.00.
Mr. Brice made a motion, seconded by Mr. Macdonald, and
carried, that the following list of bills be paid when money
is available.
Mr. Brice made a ~otion, seconded by Mr. Johnson, that
Buddy Sullins be p.t.ld $85.00 for 17 days police work while
hjs father was sick. When ,:t!l1ut to a vote, the motion carried.
Mr. Brice made a motion, seconded by Mr. JOhnson, that
City Attcrney T.C.Cork be appointed Corresponding Agent on
the Sewage Disposal Plan. The motion earr1ed~
Mr. Brice made a motion, seconded by Mr. Johnson, that tm
City Attorney prepare a law for the 3uate Legislature to amend
th!t City Gm.rter and adve:btise it to provide for a Municipal
Jud~. The mot! on carried.
