ElNUTES OF THE REGULAR ~.1EETING OF. THE CITY COUNCIL HELD AT THE
CI'I7 HALL TUESU\Y, FE BRUARY 4th, 194'7, '7: 30 P.M.
'me meeting was calJed to order by Presid(3nt R.M.Castner,
o the r Councilmen present being J. V. Brice, T .F. Thompson, and
J.F~Mzcdonald. Mayor W.H.McQuistion, Marshall C.E.Sullins,
Ci~ Engineer A.G.Cole, St Supt J.B.Fullwood, and City Clerk
R.F House were also present. City Attorney Irving F. Morse
came in a few minutes later.

Minutes - of the meetings Jan. '7th and Jan. 15th were read
and approve d.
Mayor McQuistion re~orted 24 arrests and $494.00 in fines
and forfeits turned over tb the City Clerk. He also stated
that the old well at the north end of West Ave. had been filled
in byt the City crew, eliminating that hazard.
Marshal Sullins reported 24 a.rrests in January, and fines
and forfeits in tbe amount of $494.00 collected and turned
ove r to the City Clerk.
Fire C~ief H.M.Cole reported one fire call in January
with about ~50.00 damage done. Six men answered the call.
Battery and motor checked each week and found O.K.
Englneer Cole reported his activmties for the month, and
stated that acquisition of R/W for Road 50 through Clermont
had been started.
Tnere was some discussion of Sewage plans, but no action
taken.
A Committee from the WAlfare League; Mrs. Louise Fields,
Mrs Ruth VvAstcott, Mrs Doris Rogers, and Miss Florence Pool,
were pesen'C, and Mrs Fields read a letter explaining the
operation of the Hospital by the League.
Mr. Castne r appoint ed Mr. Brice and--Mr. McQuist ion to go
to Tavares with t:re Committee from the Welfare Lea gue, and
investi@.te the Ree-ords and determine the City's responsibility
in the ma tter.-Tney set Tuesday, H'eb 11, 9: 30 1!mM. as the
time to go. T'he letter from t':e League was left with the
Ci ty Clerk.
Mn. Brice moved that Licenses be gra.nted to Wm Cooper for
RX Liquor Vendor, Dance Hall, Restaurant and Rooming House, on
payment of the proper fees. The motion was secorlded bY, Mr.
Macdonald, and when put to a vote, the motion carried.
Burke Chester, Dr. Dalton, and Jack Trawick, County
Sanitary representatives of th3 State Board of Health, were
present, and asked that the City contribute $50.00 per month
to the county, to re Ip keep a sanitation offi cer in this end
of th3 County. The !ll9. tt r was tabled, Sanitation Committee
to report at next meeting, Feb 18th.
S. H. Dowdy was asked about his building on the lots he
WaS purchasin.g from the City. ~1r. Macdonald, ~,trr. Brice and .
A.G.Cole inspected his property. He had paid the City $120.(:0
on the purchase price and spent at least $35.00 building.
Mr. Macdonald mad a motion that th3 City pay r,~r. Dowdy $150.00
for his equity in tm lots as soon as he cleans all ma terials
off the lots except the concrete floor. T'he motion was 3SCC~~~
by Mr. Brice, and when put to a vote, the motion carried.

Tne matter of a new Police car WaS discussed, and Mr.
Brice made a motion, seconded by Mr, Macdonald that the City
order a nmouth 2-door Sedan from Harper Motor Co. if quick
delivery could be secured. V<fuen put to a vote, the motion
carried.

I'~r. Macdona Id stat ed that' the School Atheletic Field
sponsored by the American Legion Post st~ll owed $480.00 on
the Lighting" and suggested tha t the Ci tymake donation on tb tfJlil
T~e matter was carried over to the next meeting.
Tne City Clerk was instructed to write the JayCees to tear
down and cle an up the di lapidated structures along 11inneola
Beach, or t~e City would clean it up at the JayCees expense.
Mr. Brice made a motion, seconded by Mr Macdonald that
the bills be pa ide A list follows the minutes or the meeting.
Hr. Macdonald mado a motion that the minutes of the first
meeting this year be amended to include liThe Citizens Bank
or Clermont, Floridabe the Depository for City Funds." The
motion was seconded by Mr. ~ompson, and when put to a vote,
the motion carried~
