12-18-1946 Regular Meeting ~ .., ~ -~ MINUTES OF REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HEID IN THE CITY HALL, v'1JEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 18, 1946, 7:30 P.M. 1),e meeting WaS called to order by presidemt 'F7;\B,.~.e9-,...-::- . other Councilmen present being H.C.Brown, Albert JOhnson, and J.F.Macdonald. Mayor W.H.McQuistion, Marshal C.E.Sullins City Attorney Irving Morse, City Engineer A.G.Cole, St. Supt J.B.FuThlwood, Water Supt. H.M~Cole, a~d City Clerk R.F.House were also present. Newly elected Councilman J.V.Briee was a visitor, also a Boy Scout, who wanted to see how the City ~ affairs were conducted. Mr. w. ~. Williams, representing Rieders & Fink, C.P.A's of Jacksonville, Fla., presented four copies of the annual audit just completed, explaining the comments, in the inttbduct~~- Mr. Brown made a motion, seconded by Mr. Johnson, that the bill of Rieders & Fink for the audit be paid, and when put to a vote, trie mC1f1on carried. Mr. Johnson made a motion, seconded by Mr. Brown, and carried, that the night policeman selected by Mayor McQuistion be Paid at the rate of $175.00 per month. There was discussion of the fracas at the Legion Center the night of December 14th, and Mr. G.J. Robbins was calle' in and gave his version of the affair. Engineer Cole's RePort was read, for his activities this month. Mr. Roe reported that he, Councilman Brown, and Mayor McQuistion attended the Meeting of the Lake County League of Municipalities at Leesburg Tuesday night, and that several topics of interest to the City were discussed. Report of E. J. Stac~on Recreation program was read by Mr. Macdonald. Mr. Brown made a motion, seconded by Mr. Macdonald, that Mr. Stack be sent statement that the program has not been satisfactorily carried out, and that the City will pay him $10000, deducting $45.00 advanced by J.V.Brice for work on the tennis court; The Council will refund Mr. Brice the $45.00 advanced. When put to a vote, the motion carrie d. Several communications v~e read and the City Clerk was instructed how to answer them. . Letter from the Postal Colony asking permit.to dischargge waste from their Packinghouse into Lake Minneola. The permit was granted by the Council. Letter about license fees for gift packinghouses was read by Mr. Roe, but no reduction was granted. Mr. Macdonald made a motion, seconded by Mr. Johnson, and carried, that Mr. Wolfe be paid the balance due him on contract for building Streets in Johnson Replat. Mr. Brown made a motion, seconded by Mr. Johnson that the Women's Club be given a 99-year lease to the property now occupied by them, at an annual rental of $1.00, and when put to a vote, the motion carried. / Mayor McQuistion reported that he had asked the Lake County League of Municipalities to hold their next meeting in Clermont.
