11-20-1946 Regular Meeting HINUTES OF THE REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD AT THE CITY HALL WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 1946, 7:45 P.M. .~ ...,., The meeting was called toorder by President F.B.Roe, other Councilmen present were C.W.Gains, A.M.Johnson, and ~.F.Macdonald. Mayor McQuistion, Marshal Sullins, City Atty ~lorse, City Engineer A.G.Cole, Street Supt. J.B.Fullwood, Water Supt. H.M.Cole, and City Clerk R.F.House were also present. Mr. W.T.Williams, representing Robert Rieders, C.P.A. of Jacksonville, Fla., was present. He had just completed an audit of the City finances for the past year, and reported the condition to the Co~~cil, and suggested that the City pay Leedy Wheeler & Co. the balance due them on the Refunding agreement, and the City take the responsibility of the balance of the Delinquent Tax Notes they cannot locate. Mr'. Gat nes made a motion, which was seconded by Mr. Johnson, and carried, that the Ci~ pay Leedy \~eeler the balance of their fee on the refunding, amounting to $1828.19; and advance $2000.00 to buy up all available outstanding Delinquent Tax Notes, and the City to Keep enough in the Delinquent Tax Note Fund in the Bank, to liquidate all Delinquent Tax Notes, and the balance to be put in the Interest and Sinking Fund to purchase Bonds. Atty Morse stated that there were some delinquent personal taxes for the years 1940 to 1943 incl., and the City Clerk was instructed to cancel the following as the firms are no l~nger here or in business: The Coffe Shop- 1940 W.G.Douglas 1940 Tnomas & Co - - 1940 The Vogue - - - 1942 ~.G.Douglas - - 1943 1.80 4.50 10.80 1.80 3.75 The following d':linquent, taxes were to be collected by the City Attorney: Gulf Service Station 1941 Dr. John McGuire - -.-1942 J.W.Stokes - - - - - -1942 Fifth St.Grocery - - 1943 W.P.Frisz - - - - --- 1943 Macdonalds Station - -1943 Lakeview Hotel - - - -1943 4.50 2.70 4.50 7.50 12.50 5.00 7.50 ~ Mr. Johnson made a motion, seconded by Mr. Gaines, and carried that the above accounts be charged off, except those collectible, which were to be turned over to Mr. Sullins for collection. ~ .,., Mr. Gaines made a motion, seconded by Mr. Macdonald and carried, that the City purchase a pipe pusher to put pipe lines across streets under the paving. A letter from Mr. Becker, asking permission to sell beer in his restaurant, was read; alro a letter from Mr. Zinsser, owner of the bu~Jding giving his permission. Mr. Johnson made a motion, seconded by Mr. Macdonald and carried, that the permit be granted, provided that beer is not served on Sunday. Report of Engineer Cole was read, and a map of the Cross-State Highway through Clermont shown. He stated that the Flygstad house on which the building had been stopped had been sold, a new plan made, and was being built. Travis Cork asked for a road to his property, and was ~ told it would be done as soon as possible. Mr. Johnson made a motion that all monies colmected in the Delinquent Tax Note Fund, and the Refunding Expense Fund, be placed in the Sinking Fund for redeeming Bonds. The motion was seconded by J~. Gaines, and when put to a vote, the motion carried. The Clerk was instructed to. redeem tax Certifica te from County Clerk in the amount of 93.83, alee to sign contract with T.&G.
