MINUTES IDF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD
AT THE CITY HALT.. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5,1946, '7:45 P.M.
The meeting'was called to order by president F. B. Roe, other
~ Councilmen present being H. C. Brown, J. F .Macdonald, Albert M
Johnson. Mayor W.H. McQuistion, Marshal C.E.Sullins, City
Attorney Irving F. Morse, City Engineer A.G.Cole, Waver Supt.
H.M.Cole, St. Supt. J.B.FUllwood, and City Clerk R.F.House
were also present.

A group of Cittzens from the Indian Hills section were
present and protested against some buildings being erected there
Engineer Cole sta ed that some squatters were putting up shacks
for temporary residences, but that he had stopped some of it.
T.C.Cork Jr asked to have a roadway built to his lots, but was J
told he would have to wait until t~e City could get the labor
and material.
Mayor McQuistions report was read, in which he reported 28
arrests, 4 Cases dismissed, '7 Cases held over until Nov. 4th,
and fines and fordeits amounting to $186.00 paid into the City
Clerk.
Marshalll Sullins reported the same as the Mayor.
Engineer Cole reported 41 buildings under construction
being inspected periodically. Two buildings not compl~ing
with the building codes were stopped. He had given a fJoor
plan of an addition to the Clinic Building to Harry Stokes,
Chairman of the Hospital Board.
There was considerable discussion of building permits
and plans, particularly one for Dock Jones at the corner of
Fifth St and Highland Ave. Mr. Brown made a motion that no
construction oh Highland Ave. not already started be permitted
untill the Cross State Highway is definitely located and
established. Tne motion was seconed by M~. Macdonald, and
when put to a vote, the motion carried.
A letter from Mrs Rose sharpe, resigning as caretaker
of the Community Building was read. Mr. Johnson made a
motion, seconded by Mr. 'Macdonald and carried, that the
resignation be accepted.
A letter from the Decatur Iron & Steel Co. offering
a jail cell knocked down, fob Clermont for $89'7.00 was read.
Mr. Johnson Made a motion, second,d by Mr. Brown that a cell
block be ordered, and when put to a vote, the motion carried;.
F're Chief Cole reported there were no fire calls in
October, Battery on Fire truck' charged, and engine tested
several tmmes during the moDhh.
Letter from Darley Mfg. Co. read, s.yl!mg lights would
be shipped later.
Mr. Brown made a motion, seconded by Mr. JOhnson,
that the following bills be approved and paid when money is
available.

DECEMBER, 1946, THE SAME BEING DECEMBER 10, ~~46,
BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:00 A. M. AND SUNSET, EASTERN
ST ANDARD TIME.
THE PURPOSE OF THIS ELECTION IS TO ELECT:
A Mayor to serve 1 year
A Treasurer to serve 1 year
A Tax Assessor to serve 1 year
Three" (3) City Councilman to each serve
2 years.

NOTICE OF REGISTRATION OF VOTERS

NOTICE is hereby given that the Registration Books of the
City of Clermont will be opened November 9, 1946, for the regis-
tration of voters who wish to participate in the City of Clermont
General Election to be held on December 10, 1946, and such books
will be open to, and including, November 29, 1946, during the
reasonable business hours of each day.
It is not necessary for persons who are already registered
to register again, but attention is called to the fact that
registration in the County Registration Books does not qualify
a voter to participate in the City of Clermont General Election.
