04-16-1946 Regular Meeting CITY OF CLERMONT ~ ~ MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF mE 0ITY COUNCIL HELD Ar:I' THE CITY HALL WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1p, 1946, at 7:30 p.m. The meetirg was called to order by President F. B. Roe, other Councilmen present being A. M. Johnson, H. C. Brown and Jim Macdonald. Mayor W. H. McQuistion, Marshal C. E. Sullins, Supt. H. M. ,Cole, Russell House and A. G. Cole were also present. The problem of Minneo1a Avenue was taken up and A1 Cole was called upon for his ideas as to the cause of the failure of this ~venue. Several methods of treating th e road were discussed and Supt. Cole gave his ideas as to patching the road and retopping it. Also, it was sug- gested that another route be found fCIr' the heavy trucks so that th~ would not have to go over Minneo1a Avenue. Mr. Roe suggested that the first thing we do is to find out what right the railroad has to Osceola Avenue and that the City Attorney be instructed to find out. After considerable more discussion, Mr. Macdonald made a motion, seconded by Mr. Brown, that the City Engineer be ins tructed to repair Minneola Avenue at the least possible expenditure to the City. The motion carried. , Mr. Roe brought up the subject of a ditching machine and Mr. Brown was instructed to look into the matter. Mr. Johnson was asked about the survey for a sewer system. After considerable discussi on, be was told to go ahead and use his best judgment as to the best concern to hire, their price, etc. A moti on was then ma de that the meeting go into an executive session. ~ ~ A motion was made by Mr. Macdonald, seconded by Mr. Johnson, that the City hire Al Cole as City Engineer, Buildll' Inspector, Sanitary Ins~ector, Plumbing & Elec- trical nspector, at a salary of ~150.00 per month. The mot ion carried. A motion was made ,by Mr. Brown, seconded by Mr. Macdonald, that a sufficient number of copies of the Build- ing Code be printed for distribution to each person who applies for a building permit. The motion carried. A motion was made by Mr. Johnson, seconded by Mr. Brown, that Russell House be engaged as Cltty Clerk be- ginning Ma1. 1, 1946, for the balance of this year, at a salary of $250.00 Per month with the understanding that he be furnished extra help for two months if necessary. The motion carri ad.
