MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF TI:m CITY COUNCIL HELD
AT THE CTI'Y HALL, TUESDAY, 5 FEBRUARY 1946, at 7:30 p.m.

The meeting was called to order by its President, M~..Roe.

during the absence of 'H. M. Eolej Mr. Bill BOyd, and R. L.
Coon, City C'lerk. Two visitors were present.
Phe crity Clerk read the minutes of 6he previous' meetings that
had been held on 1 January 1946, 2 January 1946, and 29 J~nuary
1946. The minutes were approved with the following ex~options.

Mr. H. G. Brown made a motion, seconded by Mr. Mc:
Donald that the minutes of the 1 January 1946 meeting be
amended to showQthe Cttizen's Bank of Clermont as depository
f'or CIty Funds. T,he motion earried.

(2) Mr. H. G. Brown made a motion, seconded by Mr. Mc
Donald that the minutes of the 1 January 1946 meeting be ~
amended to establish the 'Jj)'Onds for 51ty employees the same
as last l.ear: City Clerk $5000.00, ~reasurer $2000.00, and
Marshal $2,000.00. Motion carried.
A visitor spoke on the need for repainting the C'i ty
water tank and tower. Affter discussion, he was instructed to
mail a bid to the council giving complete information.
A visitlbr representing Mr. Hennessy of the Colorcrete
Products' Company was then introduced and presented a bid with
technical information covering the resurfacing of the Gity Hall.
Mr. Brown meved that the Gity go into c,ontract, through
the Building Connnittee, with the Co10rcrete Products Company
for the resurfacing of the City Hal~. Mr. Gaines seconded the
motion, ~he motion carried.
Mr. Brown made a motion, seconded by Mr. McDonald, that
the Gity join the county in their plan to provide land for the
10v:a1 Girl Scout rrroop. Land concerned was Lots 4,5,10,11, and
12, Block 4, City of Clermont. The motion carried.
The Mayor IS Report was read by the Oity Clerk.
Mr. BTown moved that the Mayor's report, concerning
thesidewaflJt: in front of the Fesler Building be turned over to
the Building Connnittee. Mr. McDonald seconded the motion. The

Mr. Gaines made a motion, secon~ed by Mr. Brown, that
the deed drawn up between the Gity of Clermont and Mr. Irving
Morse for Lots 17 and 19, Block 44, C-ity: of Clermont, 8.Bd1 dated
21 January 1946 be executed. The motH~n carried.
Mr. Roe instructed the City Glerk to write to the Coast
Line (Atlantic) Railroad Traffic with reference to violations ~
Seetion 26, of Ghapter 26, General Ordinances of the City of
Clermont, Clermont, Florida.

A motion waS made by Mr. Gaines, seconded by Mr. McDonald,
that Council cancel 1930 and prior taxes on Lots 1 and 3,
Block 105, Indian Hills because sale price of lots did not
pay these taxes in full. ~he motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Brown, seconded by Mr. Me (1
Donald that a price of $300.00 be put on the land here des-
critled"The land between 6th. and 7th. St. and between Osceola
St. and the Railroad Hig;tlh of Way" and that the land be sold
to Mr. D. A. Gaines. The motion carried.
Mr. Roe instructed the City ~lerk to notify the Clermont-
Minneola Schools that its use of the City Right of Way on
Gar1>01 Street, adjacent to the school grounds, for temporary
bleachers, and parking of cars would be with the "approval of
the Council.
Mr. Roe instructed the Mayor to talk to the Mayor of j
Mimmeola and reach an agreement as to the arrangement for
the answering of Fire Galls in Minneola by the Clermont Fire
Department. The cost to Mmnneola was to be the sum of $25.00.
A motion was made by Mr. Brown, seconded by Mr. Gaines,
that a street light be installed on the corner of Highland Ave.
at East Av.enue and at the North end of 6th. St. on Chestnut St.,
if this could be done without additional expense to the CIty.
The motion carried.
A motion was made by Mr. Brown, seconded by Mr. Gaines,
that no Occupational LiceBses be mssu~d to Itinerant pedd~ers,
etc., except on approval of the Laws and Reg~lations Oommittee.

A motion was made by Mr. Gaines, seconded by Mr. Brown,
that Bills shown as payable this date be paid as money is
available. Motion carried.
Mr. Roe instructed the Appraiaal Committee to set a i
on all of the City's lots in Hillcrest Addition City of bIe~~
mont, and said lots would be available for sale:

A motion was made by Mr. McDonald, seconded by Mr. Gaines
tha t the Gd)Uncil go into Executive Sess ion to hear a report bY'
the City Attorney. The motion carried.
The City Council had a very lengthy discussion with Mr.
Morse concerning the City's Sanitation Problems.
Mr. Ro~ instructed Mr. Morse to contact Dr. Lee, with the
State Board of Health and arrange for a visit between him and
the City Oouncil to discuss certain Health and Sanitation
Problems.
A motion was made by Mr. Gaines, seconded by Mr. Brown,
that the Council adjourn to meet again at the call of the
President, Mr. Roe. The motion carried
