11-07-1944 Regular Meeting CITY OF CLERMONT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD AT THE CITY HALL TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 1944, 7:30 P.Me The meeting was called to order by President F.B.Roe~ other councilmen present being R.M.Castner, C.W.Gaines, F.R.Higby, and R.M.Stackhouse. Mayor H.C.Brown, Marshal C.E.Sullins, Street. & Water Supt. H.MoCole, and City Clerk RoF.House were also present; .~ ~ Minutes of the meetings Oct 3rd and 27th were read and approve d . Mr. Stackhouse made a motion , which was seconded by Mr" Cas'tner and carried, that Mr. Cole be rlhimbursed $7,,35 for expenses in connection wit~ cleaning up streets with the soldiers. Mr. Higby made a motion that the City purchase $5000 Refunding bond~s, held by Leedy Vfueeler Co. @ 95 plus accrued interest" The motion was seconded by Mr Gmnes, and when put to a vote~ the motion carried. Mr. Sta~khouse made a motion that City occupational license for Termite exterminators be $25.00 per yeare ~e motion was seconded by Mr. Gaines, and when put to a vote, the motion carried~ Mayor Brown reported 5 cases in Mayor's Court, with fines amounting to $65.50 assessed, with 41050 colleeted. He stressed the importance of adopting a Building Code at this time, so we would be ready for the increased building which will probably be done as soon as restrictions are liftedo He also suggested that something be done to mSa a connection with Kerlin Airport. The Postal Colony Co. asked if the City would pay ,half the expense of a circular they are sending out which advertises Clermont. Mr.Gaines suggested that this matter be referred to the Jay Ceese Mr. Higby made a motion that a committee be appointed to investigate the possibilities f~a connection with Kerlin Field Airport. The motion was seconded by Mr. Gaines, and when put to a vote the motion carriedo Mro Roe appointed C.W.Gaines~ FoH.Rigby and Ro M. Castner on the corrmittee to report back to the next meetingo There w s considerable disc~ssion of a Buildine COdep the matter being left with the Building Committeeo Fire Chier Achord reported one fire in October, with 5 firemen answering it. Engine checked each ~eek and found O.K. Mr. Higby made a motion that all delinquent City taxes and Paving liens against Palm Gardens sold to C.BfPierce, and the Frame grove sold to C.WoGaines, be cancelled0 The motion was seconded by Mr. Stackhousep and when put to a vote, the motion carriedo Mr. Wm Kern had presented a bill to the City for some lumber and labor used on a building on which the building permit was revoked. Mro Gaines made a motion that inasmuch as the permit was obtained under false pretense, the bill should not be allowed. The motion was seconded by Mr. Castner, and when put to a vote the motion carriede ~ ~ For the election to be held Dec.12th, the following officials were appointed; Clerk,R. ErIe Rooks; Inspectors, Miss Florenro Holton, Mrs.Mollie Whitescarver and Mrs. Rose M.
