CITY OF CLERMONT
MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD AT THE
CI'l'Y HALL SATURDAY, MAY l5th,l94:4:; 4:30 P.M.
The meeting WaS called to order by president F.B.Roe,
other Councilmen present being R.M.Castner, C.W.Gaines, F.R.
Higby, and R.M.Stackhouse. Mayor h.C.Brown, Marshal C.E.
.su~lins, City Attorney IrYing Morse, and City Clerk R.F.ftouse
were present. There was considerable discussion about
opening up Cooper Lane in Lincoln Park Annex.
On June 1, 1943, a petition signed by Isreal Cooper,
Jessie Fields, and A. Logan, asked that it be opened, a row .
of trees taken out of the center, and clay put in soft spots.
At that time Councilman Roe made a motion, seconded by Mr.
Higby, and passed, that the Street Committee handle the
matter.
In order to clear things up, it was decided to go to
Lincoln Park Annex to look the situation oYer, and decide
the best thing to do. A~l members o~ the Council, The
City Attorbpy, the Marshal, and the City Clerk went there.
It was decided to take out the row of trees nearest the
middle of the street, and take care of the rest of the trees
in the right of way, and harTest the fruit.
The Council t hen went home without returning to the
City Hall.
