as relief police 1I'1hile Hr. Sullins was sick, and Hr. Brown
recommenden that he be employed for full time night service
at a salary of :;;125.00 per month. Ho stated that a bv.ilding
Ordinance had been prepared anr deli veT'e:1 to IiI'. Uray, and
sugbested tha t tho BuildinG Commi ttee and City Attorney
examine t:he ordinance sub~ect to its adoption at the noxt
meeting. He stated th~t surety bonds of tho City 0mployees
had been approved and were in his possession.
1-~rs. Lula 1'1. Keene asked that the parkYJay in the middle
of Lake Ave. in front of (,her residence be romoved, or something
done to regulate the parking there so that people could get
past. The Council assured her that they would look into the
matter and see what could be done.
After some discussion of tho need for a night policeman,
r~r. Gdnes rna~e a t:10tion tl:1at ~-r. L.R. Fussell be hired for
the month of February at a salary of ~$125.00 per month. The
motion was secondec'l by r.~r. Stackhouse, and vlhen put to a vote,
the motion carried.
1.:1". Gai nes made a moti on that th8 Council accept the
decision of the vourt in the Frisz case, and not carry it
a:1Y further. The motion VJas seconded by Hr. Stackhouse, an1
when put to a vote, the motton carried.
1'1arshall Sullins I' :ported 9 arrests in Janllary. 3
foreited appearance bonds, one sentenced to 30 days labor;
1 fined 10.00 & costs; one fined 25.00 and cost and 30 days
labor, suspended on good behavior; total of 58.00 collected
and turned over to the City Clerk. Also collected and turned
over tb tne City Clerk ~p21.50 on sanitary privies in December
and January.
l':Tr. Gaines meported to tho City Council that in acco>'dance
with his prebious instructions and reports the Clermont
Bowlers, ronc., had repaid all monies expended by the City of
Clermont in construction of tl~ building, purchase of the
Property and bowling alleys and equipment and had been operating
s'ilme since Hov 1st, 1943.
That he felt that the City's interest in tho project
should be conveyed to t'.is Corporation and :9rosented a res-
olution which \"Jas read by the Clerk.
On motion of Lir. Castner, seconded by reI'. Stackhouse, the
Resolution was passed, a copy of same appearing in the Milinute
Book, following the minutes of this meeting.

ir. Gaines mad) a motion that Dorothy Hilton be given
a lease on tho triangular plot of land on Lake Uirneola as
asked for in her application; for improvement and care as
long as it is not needed by the Clty for any other purpose.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Stackhouse, and when put to
a-vote; the notion carried.
--I'. Stackhouse made a motion that a resolution be drawn,
allowing the City to give leases to the adjoining property
owners,on th,) lake front property at the end of streets coming
dovm to the lake. 1'he motion was seeonded by r:r. Castner,
and when put to a vote, the motion carried.
There was no report from the Fire Chief.

that garbage be collected once a week on Fridays only,
except in the business section. After some discussion,
the motion was withdrawn.
l'~ayor Brown was asked to put a notice in the Clermont
Press about garbage containers. The Sanitary Inspector
was instructed to go with the garbago collector to see that
tho requirements are complied with.

On motion of llr. Stackhouse, seconded by Hr, Gaines, and
passed, the City Gle rk ViaS authorized to buy GoveJ'l1I'1ent Bonds
with tho Capital rteserve Fund.
On motion of YCr. Castner, seconded by Mr. Gaines, and
passed, the following bills gere approved, and ordered paid
when money is availablel

WHEREAS, the Oity Council ot the City ot Clermol)t did, during
the year of 1943. realize the need for additlonal recreational
faoilities in the City of Clermont for Ui'S resIdenT-a, tourlsts,
and thom. members of the Armed Forc~8 atatioRed In and near Clerment,
and did aoquire rrom the Citizens Sank ot Clermont the Horth Fifty
Feet (101) of Lota 2, 4, and 6 of Block 91 of the city otciermont,
and did apply to the War Production Beard for autho~lty to erect a
bUilding of concrete block construction to house five Bowling ,Alleys
whlch the said Clty ot Clermont did purchRse from one D. M. Bryant
etlew Smyrna Beach. Florida (tltle to sald Bowling ~ley. being
taken on authority of the sald Clty In the name of H. K. Stokes,
trustee); and,
WHERlEASf, tbe CIty Counoil ot the City of Clermont diet
later reallze that the purchase of the said Bewllng Alleys, equip-

ment, property, and the ereet10n of sald building would Involve more
money than the C1ty could afford to expend, and did authorize Mr.
O. W. GalRe.. 8 member of the Oity COUDcil, to ascerta1n 1f he
could interest residents of the City of Clermont surrlo1ently
1n th18 projeet that they' contribute of their t1me and money; and,

contributed sufficient menies to repay the City of Olermont for all
