01-11-1944 Regular Meeting CITY OF CLERHON~r THKUTES OF TITI R~~G1[.LAR ADJOURN'ED l'IEETING OF TIill CITY Ir COUNCIL HELD AT 'l'H~ CITY HALL TUESDAY, JANUARY 11, 1943, 7:30 p.ri: ~~ ~ The meeting was called to order by ~Iayor Brown, who st ated the first order of business vias organizing for the comming year, and the meeting was open for nominations for president. Councilmen present were R.n.Castner, C.I/I.Gaines, J:i'. H. Higby, and F.B.Roe. LIr. Roe was nominated for presmdent. Mr. Ga nes then moved that the nominations close; the motion was seconded by Mr. Castner, and when put to a vote, the motion Carried. r,~r. Roo was then declared elected, and took the chair. r;r. Higby was nominated for vice president. IJr. Ga ines made a motion that the nominations be closed; the motion was seconded by liIr. castner, and when put to a vote, the ,motion carried unanimously. Mr. Higby was therupon declared elected vice-president of the Council. Mr. ~oe stated his views on some matters which the Council should take action during the coming year. A letter from Mr. Stackhouse Was read, expressing his regret because he was unable to attend the meeting, as the doctor had ordered him to rest in bed for the next three weeks. He sug~ested postponing as much of the repair and construction work as possible mntil the end of the war. r,Iayor Brown read his report in which he pointed out some of the needs of the coming year. He e~pecially stressed health and sanitation, building inspection, and post-war planning. r~. Castner made a motion that the surety Bonds of the Treasurer, Clerk, and Harshal bA secured for the same amounts vas last year: Clerk ~~5,OOO, Treas. i)2,OOO, Harshal ~)2,OOO. The motion -eas seconded by I.'Ir. Gaines, and when put to a vote, the motion carried. T','!r. Roe stated tha t he would notify the Council of all standing Committee appointments within a week. ~ -"., Hr. Cast er made a motion, seconded by T;':1'.
