L'iINUTES OF REGULAR HEETIHG OF CITY CuUNCIL HELD AT TRLE
CITY HALL TUESDAY, NOVID~B~~R 2nd, 1943, 8:30 P.ll.
The meeting ~asl called to ordor by V. Pros. F.R.Rigby,
other Councilmen presont boing R.M.Castner, ~.~. Gaines, and
F.B.Roe. Marshal C.E.Sullins, City Atty Irving F. Morse,
Streot & Water Supt. H.M.Cole, ~ d City Clerk R.F.Houso were
also prosent.

Mr. Roe reportod for tho Park Committeo that tho Park
had boon cleaned up.
Mr. Roe mado a motion that Mrs gorkman b~ notified that
the City has no authority to grant her a lease on Lake front
as hor property does not abut the Lake front. Th0re is
privately o~~ed pro~ty botween hers and tho Lako, and sho
would havo to mako arrangomonts with the ownors of th~property.
The motion was seconded by 11r. uaines, and whon put to a voto,
Dhe motion carriad.
Mr. Roe mado a motion tnat wator sorvico to J.P.Achord's,
E.C.Pomborton's, and R.N.Castnerb be connocted directly to.
the large main across tho street from their properties, and
tho oxtra pipo bo taken up and usod whoro noeded. Tho motion
was seconded by Mr. Castnor, and when put to a vote, the
motioii carried.
Mr. Roe reported talking with Mr. Stokes ibout the growth
in Centor Lake, and that he had promised to clean it up just
as soon as ho could get to it.
Mayor Brown's report was read. In it ho urged that
action bo takon for tho City to aquire tille to property
now held by the I.I.F. Board. Also that sincG-the Sorvice
Club rooms were being furnished rent froe by ~ort and
Brantly, the City might romit the taxes. He called att0nt~on
to the dangerous condition of the sidowalks in several places,
and urged immodiate action. He roported some occupational
licenses still unpaid, but that arrangements were being mado
to tako caro of them.
Mr. Roe made a motion that the taxes on tho building
occupied by the Servico Club be remitted. The motion was
seconded by Mr. Gaines, and whon put ,to a voto~ the motion
carried.
Thoro was somo discussion of thn advisability '~f fore-'
closing on lots on which tho taxes and paving was delinquent.
Atty Morso estimated the cost would be about ~~3000.00, .

Marshal Sullins roported 6 arrests~ with fines of $93.00
collected and turned over tr tho City ulerk.
For the annual Election of City Officiils, tho Clerk
was instructed to opon tho Rogistration book and havo tho
ballots prepared. Election officials wore named as follow:
Clork, H. ErIe Hooks; Inspectors~Rebecca Schopmeyor,' Mollie
Whitescarver, and Rose M. Sharpe.

Mr. ~oe made a motion, soconded by Mr. G~es and carriod,
that the City pay for having the partition to the Ration Offico
extendod to tho ceiling not to exceod $15.00, provided ~r.
Bliven could get the work done.
It was moved by Mr. Gaines, soconded by Mr. Castner, and
carried, that tho following bills be approvod and paid when
money is availablo:
