The meeting was called to order By president Geo l~. Nagel,
ot~~-'r CotU1cilmen present being R. M. Castner, F. H. Higby and
F. B. Roe. Mayor H. C Brown, Marshal C.E.Sullins, St. & Nater
Supt. H~lI.Cole, Bill Kie, And City Clerk R.P.House were also
present.

approved.
Mayor Brown reported for the Comraittee on additional
jail facilities that nothing could be done to enlarge the
old jails, and asked for additional time to see if other
arrangements could be made.
, gr. Higby made a motion that'the mattor of fire hydrants
on th.o line for the ,Army be left to t'''le Water Committee. The
motion was seconded by Er. Castner, and ;;rhen P-tt to a vote,
the motion carried.
Mr. Castner made a motion that the City Clerk submit
proposal to the Army Engineer for water services at tho
regular rates. The mot ion was seconded by I,7r. Roe, and
when put to a vote, the motion carried.
Mayor Brown rea0_ his report in which he explained what
had been done to hurry installation of the ne~v pump equipment.
He also stated that t1'1e State had passed a law giving title to
the City of all lands between the highways and high water mark,
and suggested makmmg leases to the abutting property owners
who desire to control the lake front in front of their property
On account of the large increase in population due to the
Army camp being located here, he recommended an additional
policeman be empl~d to furnish 24 hr police service. He also
recommended additional white way lights, a drinking fountain,
and having sidewalks repaired. He asked that the Council
determine length of vacations for City Employees, and whether
they should be with or without pay. He also asked ~~
trash barrels, toilet, and light near the dock at the bathing
beacho
Mr. Castner made a motion that the Street crew get some
wire from Ur. Roe which he is loaning to t~, e City for the
duration, and put it up at the dock for a light. Tho motion
was seconded by Mr. Roe, and whon put to a vote, th motion
carried.
Mr. Roe made a mdtion that the City issue leases on lake
shore property for a period of twenty years to abutting
property owners who will agree to improve and keep up the
property, at a price of ~1.00. The motion was seconded by
~r. Higby, and when put to a vote, the motion carried.
Mr. Higby made a motion that the City Clerk order a
cap and uniform with an extra pair of trowsers for the
police. The motion was seconded by Mr. Roe, and when put
tp a vote, the motion carried.

Mr. Higby made a motion that vVm Kie be employed as
extra policeman at a salary of $125.00 per month, no car
allowance. The motion was seconded by Mr. Hoe, who asked
for a roll call vote. Roll call vote, Ayes-Higby, Nagel,
Roe; Noes-Castner; Absent-Gaines. So the motion carriea.
Mr. Roe made a motion t~-at the Street Cornmitt,ee see about
more white-way lights. The motion was secondod by Mr.
Castner, and when put to a vote, the motion carried.
The matter of repairing sidewalks was referred to the
Street Committee for immediate action.

weeks vacation with pay. The motion was seconded by Mr. Higby
and when put to a vote, the motion carried.
Mr Higby moved that City employe~s on monthly salary
be paid semi-monthly. The motion was seconded by Mr.Castner
and when put to a vote the motion carried.

Mr. Higby made a moti-on that Mayor Brown see that the
fire hazard at the Clermont Theater be removed. The motion
was seconded by Mr. Castner, an~ when put to a vote, the
motion carried, unanimously.
The Fire Chief's report stated there were no fires
reported for the month of June, and the engine was checked
each week and found O.K.
The Daily- reports of thD Street and Water Supt. were
submitted for examination and ordered filed.
The Marshal's -report s ta ted 1 arrest, fine of 1. <)<) and
costs, suspended
rr. R.C.Hooks was given permission to use the plot of
ground between Block 78 and the R.R. for garden. VOO Cooper
was given permission to use Block 6 for garden.
By motion of rdr. Higby, seconded by Mr. Cas tner, and
