The meeting was called to order by Pres~dent Geo.M.
Nagol, other Councilmen present being R.r\~.Castner, C.W.
Gaines, F. H. Higby, and, F. B .Roe. rjayor H. ~ . Brown,
St'reet 8: Water SUl)t. H.:r:.Cole, and City Cll)rk H.l<'.House
were also present. City Attorney Irving F. ~\iorse came in
a little later.

and aP1?roved.
Geo. Nagel presented two resolutions from the Junior
Cbamber of CornmercG ]')8ssed at their last meeting, April 1.3th.
One urged permit~ for eating places to sell beer on Sundays;
the other asked;~ower license fees on coin-operated amuse-
ment devices. I~r. Higby made a motion that the Resolutions
be accepted and placed on file for later conside:.-:-ation by the
Council. 'rhe motion was seconded by ~jr. Gadmes, and vJhen
put to a vote, the motion carried. I',layor BroliJn stated that
~J.F.Duggan has mado a proposition to put in five Race-horse
~achines a nd pay the City B500 license on them if the Council
would grant him exclusive right on tne op~ration of coin-
opera ted TJ1..a chines in the City.
I~Iayor Brown read his report in which he urged an
ordinance for the regulation of pros'itutes along the lines
provided by the newly enacted State laws; also an ordinance
providing for t he destruction of dogs and cats roaming the
streets at large without being under control of their owners
on leash, or otherwise. He a Iso recommended that, due to
the large n~mber of soldiers coming in, the Council provide
24 hour police service. He stated that he had roquested
the Orlando Transit Co. to pr~~vide a night bus to leave
Clermont betvJeen 5 and 6, and ."eturn between 11 and 12.
Arrangement for innoculation of dogs is being made.
~r. Roe mad0 a motion that an ordinance be prepared,
providing for tIle destruction of dogs and cats roaming at
large not under control of their owners, if it can be done
legally. The motion was seconded by llr. Castner, and
when put to a vote, tho motion carried.
Mr. Roe made a motion that an Ordinance be prepared
for the rogulation of prostitutes, following closely the
conditions provided by the newly enacted State Laws. The
motion was seconded by Mr. Ga:dmes, and when put to a vote,
the motion carried.
Layor Brown submitted with his report a resolution by
the Methodist Church School, asking that the Council do not
alter the ordinances to permit the sale of alcho1ic beverages
on the Sabbath, or allow the operation of gambling machines
in thG City.
Marshal Sullins reported three arrests 'lid th fines and
costs amounting to t;35.00 assessed, f;~23.70 collected, and
1 sentence suspended and one partially worked out.

~jr. Brown reported that the Int8r-racial COnu:J.ittee
appointed last month had met and organized and JTl.atters
coming to their attention were being taken care of satis-
factorily.
City Attornoy f'lorse reported that he had looked into the
matter of getting a used patrol car for pOlice use, and in
his epinion, tbe City had better buy a new car. l~. Gaines
made a motion that a committee be appointed to purchase a new Ca.1t.
for the F'olice Dopt. The motion was seconded by T\!r. Roe,
and 1:vhen put to a vote, the motion carried. )-1'. Nagel
appointed l',~r. Gaines, r.~r. Castner, and Mr Roe on this
committee.
The Fire Chief reported t fire call, and the engine
checked each week and found O.K.

Street &, 'Ja tel" Supt. H .1":. Cole reported baling out the
well after tho pump was removed. Also that tho Stroet crew
was taking down a dead tree in the park.
The Boathouse at the Lake Highlands hotel, i'vhich was
ordered torn down nearly a year agoha s not been removed
a nd cleaned up, and r.Ir. Roe made a motion that the City crevr
tear it down and store the lumber until needed. The motio n -
was seconded hy Er. Castner , and when put to a vote, the
motion carried.

Mr. Brown stated that the committee appointed some time
ago to present a plan for disposing of City owned lots would
be ready with a report at tho next meeting.
rr. Roe mad(~ a motion that the City Cle rk advertize
for the sale of delinquent 1942 City taxes, July 1, 1943.
The motion was secon ed l)y f:lr. Higby, and when put t'') a vote,
tho motion carried.
Hr. Gaines made a motion which was seconded by Mr. Higby
and carried, that tho following bills be approved and paid
when money is available;
further business, tho Council
