MINU'rES OF THE REGULAR ADlTOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL HELD AT THE CITY HALL TUESDAY, JANUARY L~'1L~$' 7:30 P.M.
12,1943
The meeting was called to order by President Geo.
Nagel, 'other Councilmen present beLle; R.M.Castner, C.W.
Gaines, F.H.Higby, and F.B.Roe. Mayor Brown, Marshal
R.F.Anderson, STreet & Water Supt. H.M.Cole, and City
Clerk R.F.Reuse were also present.
Mmnutes of the meeting Jan 5th were 'read and approved.
Mr. R.M.Stackhouse, representing the local Ration
Board was present, and asked the Council for additional
funds for shelvos and equipment in the Ration office.
Mr. Gaines made a motion that the City pay for such shelv-
ing and equipment not to exceed $15.00. The motion was
seconded by Mr. Roe, and when put to a vote, the motion
carried.
Mr. Roe made a motion that the Ration Board be given
permission to store coupons and books in the City Vault,
provided noresponsibilityvvas attached in case of loss.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Castner, and when put to a
vote, the motion carried.
Mr. Livermore, president of the Recreation Club, asked
the Council if some arrangements could be made about the
use of the Community Building certain nights each week.
Mr. Roe made a motion that the Park Con~ittee meet with
the Recreation Club at the Co~nunity Building Thursday,
January 14th, 7:30 P.M. to try to make satisfactory arrange-
ments for the use of the bamlding by the Recreation Club
certain nights each week, that would not conflict with
other groups. The motion was seconded by Mr. Gaines,
and when put to a vote, th:'1 motion carried.
President Nagel made the following appoirlments on

Mayor Brown read his r~rt, in which he called to
the Council'~ attention the need for economy in operation
of the City Dusiness, at the same time taking care of the
sanitary conditions, more carefully than ever, due to the
shortage of Doctors; also providing some program for
recreation in tho form of local get-togethers, frolics,
dances etc. He also stated that he had written letters
to the Womens Club, r.fr. Broomall, and Mr. Short, thanking
them for special servi~es in tho last year.
Mr. Higby Made a motion that the Chairman of the
Parks Committee be made chairman of a general committee
to sponser a city-wide recreation program, with authority
to name the other members of the committee from citizens of
the comm12lnity. The motion was seconded by Mr. Castner, and
when put to a vote, the motio!" ca:r>ried.

his donation of a furnace installed in the City Hall. and

motion was seconded by Mr. Gaines, and when put to a vote,
the motion carried.
Marshal Anderson reported 1 arrest, with fine of
$10.00 and costs collected.
City Attorney"Morse ha d been ,called out of town, and
had left no report.

Mr. Gaines suggested the City furnish water to a group
of school boys to raise gardens as part of their school
work, in the block west of the City hall;provided arrangements
for proper supervision to carry the project through were made.
'l'ne Council agreed to supply the water.
President Nagel stated that the meeting was open for
nominations for vice president of the Council for the coming
year. Kr. Gaines nominated Mr. Higby, and the nomination was
seconded by r1r. Roe. Mr. Castner then moved that the nomin-
ations close. The motion was seconded by Wir. Gaines, and
when put to a vote, the motion carried. Mr. Higby was
thereby unanimously electe d vice-president of the Council.
Mr. Castner moved that the complete minutes of Council
mee tings be furnished the paper for publication as soon
a s possible by the City Cle ',rk. Thr motion was seconded by
Mr. Gaines and when put to a vote, the motion carried.
Mr. Roe moved that the Council go into exiecutive session,
and that all other persons except the Mayor leave tha roo~m. '
'j'he motion was seconded by Mr. Gaines, and carried rmanimously.

Mr. Roe moved that the Citizens Bank of Clermont be
named the Depository for City Funds. The motion was
seconded by Mr.Higby, an~ when put to a vote, the motion
carried.
Mr. Gaines made a motion that Surety Bonds for the
City Clerk, Treasurer, and the Marshal be taken out on tho
same basis as last year- 05,090 for Clerk, 02,000 for
Treasurer, ~:~2000 for Marshal. 'The motion 'was seconded by
1\'1:1'. Roe, and when put to a vote, the motion carried.
On motion of Mr. Higby, seconded by Mr. Castner, and
carried, tbe Council adjourned, to meet at the call of the
president.
