HELD AT THE CI'Y.i HALL TUESDAY, AUGUST 11, 1942, 7:30 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by president H. R.
Harper, other Councilmen present being Geo. Nagel and C. H.
Gaines. Mr R. V. M1l1er camo in a fe~ minutes later.
Mayor H. C. Brown, City Attorney Irving F. Morse, Tax
Assessor G.A.Nash, and City Clerk R. F . House were also
present.

Mr. ~,V. T. rJilliams, representing C. Cecil Bryant,
C. P.A. of Ocala, made a proposition to audit the City
Books at the end of the fiscal year, for the same a,ount
as last year, G300.00.

make tho audit on tho above stated basis. Tho motion was
seconded by Mr. Miller, and when put to a vote, the motion
carried.
Mayor Brown reported that Mr. G. H. McCain had
tendorled his resignation as City Marshal, to take effect
August 31st.
Mr. Gaines made a motion that tho rediGnation of Mr.
McCain be accopted, with regret. The motion was seconded by
Mr. Nagel, and when put to a vote, tho motion carriod.
On motion of Mr. Gaines, seconded by Mr. Nagel, it
was unanimously agreed that the salaries of tho police
force, includin~ the n~ght watchmen, should not exceed
$200.00 per month.
President Harper stated that it had been advertised,
and notice posted, that t"e Council would sit as Board
of Equalization of Taxes August 11, 1942, at 8:00 P.M. to
oxamine and equalize-the 1942 Assessment Roll as submitted
to them by tho Tax A~sessor of the City of Clemont; and
that he would now entertain a motion ~or adjourment.
On motion of ~,'ir. Gainos, seconded by Mr. Nagel, tho
Council adjourned to meet at tho call of tr~o president.
