THE CITY HALL 'l~SDAY, ~TNE 2, 1942, 8:00 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by president H.R.Harper,
other Councilmen present being C.W.Gaines, R.V.Miller and
Geo. Nagel. Mayor H.C.Brown, Marshal G.H.McCain, City
Attorney Irving F. Morse, 8tceet & Water Supt. R.F.Anderson,
and City Clerk R. F. House were also present. There were
no visitors.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

rrhere was some discussion of the mosquito problem and
it was decided to start a cleanup campaign, urging everyone
to cleanup all trash, tin cans and other receptacles around
their premises where mosquitoes might breed...
Councilman Nagel reported that reflector signals for
dead end streets were being prepared and wpuld be installed
in the next few weeks.
Mayor Brown reported bus service from Orlando to
Groveland would probably be started in the next two weeks.
Also that arrangements mig~-~t be made for bus service to
Tavares and the north part of this county by use of school
busses.
Fire Chief Achord came in and said that the fire siren
could be moved from the City Hall to the Water Tower as soon
as switch and wire could be obtained, and he was directed to
make the change as soon as possible.
Payor Brown read his report. He suggested that the Counc1
take appropriate action for re-employment of any City employees
who might be called to the armed forces of tb,e Allied Countries;
that City employees be given vacations as usual; and that for
economy of the City, the white way lights be discontinued for
the summer. He stated that inoculation of degs was held
May 23rd, and that the veterinary would be here again June 6th
to complete the work.
gr. Gaines introduced a RESOLUTION regarding re-employment
of any City employee who joins or is called into the ~MX~
armed forces of the United 8m tea or her Allies, and moved
its adoption. The motion was seC'onded by Mr. Miller, and
when put to a vote, the motion carried unanimously. A copy
of the Resolution follows the minutes of this meeting.

vacations as usual this sun~er. The motion was seconded by
Mr. Gaines, and when put to a vote, the motion carried.
Mr. Gaines made a motion, that in the interest of
conserving power and of economy in the City, that the White
Way Lighting system be cut off immediately, and remain off
until such time as the Council deems it advisable to have
it turned on again. The motion was seconded by Mr.Miller,
and when put to a vote, the motion carried.

Attorney Morse stated that several years ago when the
streets in Clermont Heights were changed, lot 350 was not
properly transferred on tho County records, and in order
to permit the present owners of the property to get tille
insurance, the City should give them a deed to this lot.
Mr. Nagel made a motion that the City execute a qui t-
claim deed of lot 350, Clermont Heights, to Albert G. Cox
and wife, Louise N. Cox. The motion was seconde4, by Kr.
Gaines, and when put to a vote, the motion carried.
Mr. Nagel made a motion that $9.27, the amount of taxes ~
paid by the Welfare League on the Yacht Club property, be
donated to the Welfare League. The motion was seconded by
Mr. Miller, and when put to a vote, the motion carried.
The Marshal~ report stated that the month of May was
very quiet- three arrests, with fines amounting to ~~47 .70
and three days labor being collected.

The Fire Chief reported no fires in May, the
engine checked each week and found O.K.

Mr. MIIX~~ made a motion, seconded by Mr. Miller, and
carried, that the fril10wing bills be approved and paid when
money is available.

WHEREAS, during the present emergency men 1n all walks of
life are being called to serve in the various Armed Forces of
the United States; and,
WHFRfAS, thare are employees of the City of Clermont, who
may be called, or who may find it necessary to enlist 1n some
branch of the Armed Forces of the United States; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that any employees of the City of Clermont,
who may enlist or be called and/or drafted into any branch of
the A~ed Forces of the United States and/or her allies, may with-
in one (1) year from the close of this war return to this city lllnd
,apply for the position formerly held by him and said applicant
will be re-ernployed in the same position at the same salary or
greater salary than he was receiving at the time of his enlist-
ment, call, or draft into the said Armed Forces; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVFD, that subsequent City Councils observe
and follow the spirit and the letter of this Resolution.
