MltrolfE8 OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD AT
THE CITY HALL TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 1942, 7:45 P.M.

The meeting was called to oreer by presidentH.R.Harper,
other Councilmen present being G. J. Egan, C.W.Gaines, R.V.
Miller, and Geo Nagel. City Attorney Irving F. Morse,
Marshal G.H.McCain; Street & Water Supt. R.F.Anderson, and
City Clerk R.F. Hous,s were also present.
Minutes of the meetings Jan.6th and 8th were read and
approved.
City Attorney Morse stated that Mr. Muceneek wabted to
settle for the paving going through his property, but t~at
due to errors in the original assessment lien, an adjustment
should be made. After some discussion, Mr. Gaines made a
motim that the City Clerk be auth9riz~d to make the necessary
correction, and set~le the lien w~th Mr. Muceneek on the basis
'discussed and agre.ed upon by the- Counc:i,l" _ The motion was
seconded by Mr. Nagel, and when put to a vote, the motion
carried.
Mr. Morse urged the Council to have the Assessment roll
completed early, so that they would have more time for equal-
izationof the roll, and be able to get the tax statements
out con timee
Mr. Gaines made a motion that the City accept $425.38
fro~ Mrs. Workman in full payment of its claim against her
for two bonds delivered to her through error, and which she
had sold for that amount. The mO,tion was seconded by Mr.
Egan, and when put to a vote, the motion carried.
~~or Brown'8~ report was read in which he stressed the
need of the Federal Govennment for materiel which might be 1
salvaged. He also recommended that the Council close Palm ~
Avenue between Second and Third Steets for a time, as it has ~
'not been used, and Mrs. Woodruff offere~ to clean it up and ~~
plant tree~ and grass so tt would be more attractive. ~

Mr. Egan made a motion that the City Attorney be given
authority to prepare the necessary papers to close Palm Ave.
between Second and Third. Streets for a time, and to propect
the City's interest. The motion was seconded by Mr,
Miller, and when put to a vote, the motion carriedo ,~
Mr. Egan made a motion that Mayor Brovm make some 11
disposition of t~~ paper already collected, and that-,
the garbage truck ooaDe collection of waste paper~ The
motion was seconded by Mr. Gaines, and when put to a vote,
the motion carried.
The fire Chief reported no firet calls in January, and
the engine checked each week and found B.K.
Marshal McCain reported no arrests in January~ The
Police phone in t~e business district, No. 3581 is now in
operation.

The Street Committee reported a few places needing repairs,
and Street Supt. Anderson was instructed to fix the railing
and approach to the bridge across the canal between Lake
Wenona and Lake Minnnehaha; and to repair the paving at the
intersection of Carroll and F~ftDbhStreets, and at the
intersection of East and Minnehaha Avenues. Mr. Egan made
a motion t'~at Mr.Andersonts salary be $125.00 per month,
beginning Jan.I,D42, Mr Anderson to do police work on
Saturday nights with the marshal. The motion was secon,-'ed
by Mr. Nagel, and when put to a vote, t~e motion carried.
Mr. Egan made a motion that the Water Supt. put .in
larger pipe to furnish water to several new houses recently
erected in Lincoln Park. The motion was-seconded by Mr.
,Gaines, and when put to a vote" the motion carried.

The City 'Clerk was authorized to order i doz. meters
and meter boxes.
After some discussion of delinquent water bills, Mr.
Miller made a motion that all bills for the preceding month
must be paid by the 15th of the month; and if there is any
delinquent amount, at least 20% of that _must ,also be paid.
The City Clerk shall send out notices ~KXXIX

paid, and if the amo~nt is not paid in 3 days, the water
will be cut off without further notice. The motion was
secon,ded by Mr. Gaines, and when put to a vote, the motion
carried. The Council agreed to advertise in the Clermont
Press for bids for the M*~~XX~ collection and disposal
of Ci ty Garbage.

Mr. Gaines made a motion, 'which was saconded by Mr.
