08-12-1941 Regular Meeting CITY OF CLE~BON'Tl Hinutes of the regularly adjou1"ned moctine; of the City Council hold at the City Hall Tuesday, August 12,1941, 8:00 p.rt. Tho HOElting was called to order by Vice-prosident C.'.;. Gaines, other Councilmen present being G. J. Egan H.R. Harper, and R. V. Miller. Mayor H.C.Brown, City Attorney I1"ving F. Morse, Water Supt. R.F.Anderson, and City Clark R.F.House worG also present. ..~ ., Mr. Gaines stated that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss pumping oquipment, and that proposals f1"om sevoral representatives of firms handling punlping equipment would be discussed. Mr. Cousins, representing Layne-Atlantic Co. suggested that a pump dleivering 650 G.P.H. in the water tank with a combination drive using a 40'HP electric motor or our p1"osent Ford V-8 motor wouln give the City an adequate supply of water at ocondmical cost; and stated that he was prepared to submit a bid on such equipment and guarantoe the performance. Four other Firms agreed to submit bids on similar equipment, and after some discussion as to specifications, the following bids Viere stdmnitted: Firm without motor Complote Allowance on installation old pump Farm & Homo Machinery Co. , Orlando ~1,300.00 ~~2, 092 . 00 $71'").00 IIarry P. Jacksonville 1,225.90 1,912.85 250.00 After duo consideration of all bids for the combination pump and motor the Council selaected the two lewest and best . bids, they being : Layne-Atlantic Co. Gray Well 8: Pump Corp. It was then movod by Mr. Egan, socended by Mr. Harper and and unanimously carried that t~e Council be polled to 0.0- tamino to whom the bid should bo awarded and that tho one receiv&~gtho highest number of vot0s shall re~eivo the contract; and if the successful bidder cannot furnish tho oquipment within 60 days tho contract shall be awarded to tho ono receiving the next highest nwnber of votes. A poll was then taken, and tho Layno Atlantic Co. received the highest number of votes, so the contract was awarded to them. Hr. Cousins, represGmting the Layne-Atlantic Co. stated that as soon as he could get confirmation of the order he would notify tho Council and sond a contract for approval.
