Keene called the r:;ooting to ordor with Councilmen F. B. Roe, R. M. Stackhouse, present. Co~mcilmen Roy Lassiter came in a few minutes later. Me.yor Brown, City AttDrney Geo. F.Westbrook, r1arshal Cleaver and Streot Supt. H. F. Jlnderson wore also present. Mr. Mirrrrns presented the proposal of the State Rond Dept. to lower the grade on Hook Street wher.e, the State Road 8 A crosses it and he stated that the road would be put in gpod condition again. r.1r. V!estbrool\: brought up the matter of n8.yinr; refunding expenses. Jud ge Walker, ReferG:Ye :in', bank'ru:pj:;cy, is demanding balance due him. A motion was made by Mr. Stackhouse tha t :;~350. be transferred from tax levy 2 mills, 1939, to Refund- ing Expense Fund. The motion was seconded by Mr. Roe and when put to a vote, carried. ~ayor Brown'% reported four c~ses in Mayor's Court with 1P56.00 ir fines and costs assessed. He also asked that a few repairs be made to the community building in Kehlor Park. He ~lso asked the Council to investi- gate the assess~ent of George Muceneek's property in tho soutbe rn part of the city. He also aske d if lights could be put in the city Library. He also asked that sor.-;e actio''''' be taken on the application for building p';rmi t of the School Board for a garagoto s tore the school buses. A motion was w~de by Mr. Roe tnat the Building Committee and City Attorney meet with School Board to see if an agreement could be reached on a' building perMit for the garage. The motion was secorded by Mr. Stackhouse and when put to a vote, carried. A motion was n~de 'by Mr. Roe that Juniata Street be fixed under directi o[l of Streot Committee. The motion was seconded by r. Lassiter, snd when put to a vote, carried. A motion was made. by Mr. Lassiter that Mr. Stack- house get a new Ford V 8 engine instm led in pump house at a cost not to exceed $1~5.00. The motion was seconded by Mr. Roe and when put to a voto, carried. Also for the ~ark Supt. to get rye seed to plant in the Park. ~ -"., A motion was made by Mr. Stackhouse that the County pay regular rate for water used. ~he motion was seconded by !dr. Roe and when put to a' vote, carried. A motion was made by Mr. Roe that a l~ inch water line be exterlded to Burtis' lot. ,The motion was seconded by Mr. Stackhouse and when put to a vote, carried. Keene and when put to a vote, carried. - 2 - The Marshal's report was read. He reported four arrests and fines and costs of e56.00 druing the month. He reported painting of the parking lines was about half finished. ~ ~ A motion was made by Mr. Roe that the city purchase two new tires for the Chevrolet street truck. The motion was seconded by Mr. Stackhouse and ~men put to a vote, carried. A motion was made by Mr. Roe that the bills be apDroved and paid when money is available. V. ~"'iller to take his place until newly elected officers are qualified. A motion 1.'Jas made by Mr. Roe that each Councilman and Mayor be paid ~5.00 par month provided th~t they attend each regular meetingf beginning January 1, 1941. The motion was secord ed by Mr. Lassiter and when put to a vote, carried. - 3 - Mr. Roe made several recommendations; the refinishing of the front room and office of the City F..all. Also have r_ re truck painted and new tires.
