03-05-1940 Regular Meeting CITY OF CLEill.WNT ~Iinutes of the regular meeting of the City Council, held at the City Hall, Tuesday, March 5, 1940, 7:30 P.M. The Meeting ~as called to order by president O.R.Keene at 7:40 P.H.; and on roll call, other Councilmen present were R.T..Lassiter, F.B.Roe and R.F.Stackhouse. Marshall R.S. Cleaver, and Street Supt. H.P.Anderson were also present. ~ ~ ~~inutes of the meetings Feb. 6th and 15th were read and approved. ~Cr. t10ther ~fartin, repr-esenting t'he Florida Public Service Co. was present, and asked that the Council state their preference ~ of color to paint the white-way light poles. The Council agreed that Aluminum paint would be satisfactory. Hr. Martin also asked permission to trim branches from trees w~ich were interfering with good electric service, and this permission was granted; the work to be done under the supervision of Hr. Stackhouse. ~'r. T';Jare asked permdJssion to move the fence along his grovve two feet ne~er the Street; and to build a pergola over the driveway between his grove and t"he Cemetery. The Council gr~nted hdJm this permission. Dr. 1~. n. Douglas asked for a reserved parking place in froat of his office. The Council refused to reserve a place on Montrose Street, but instructed rarshall Cleaver to have a reserved space marked on the west side of Seventh Street immediately north of the sidewalk NNxM<<RX along rontrose Street.. The foreman of the creww painting the water tank stated th0t they had finished painting the tank. Wr. Roe said that it apneared to him rome of the lase paint and scale had not been removed before repa inting, and asked all members of the Council to examine the job before approving payment of the bill. Yr. ~assiter made a moti0n thRt th8 collection of all unpaid occupational licenses be~ forced. The motion was seconded by tlr. Roe, and when put to a vote, the motion carried. , In the absence of Mr. Brown, th8 Uayor I s report was / read by t},8 Ci ty Clerk. The report s +- at ed t"ha t the V Zoning Ordinance should be ready for t.h8 consideration of th0 Ccuncil within thirty days. Also that action on ~.P.A. projects was awaiting reports fnom the District Office. Marshall Cleaver's report was read and approved. Fire Chief Achord's report was read. ITr. Stackb,ouse mado a motion, which was seconded by Mr. Roe, and carried, that The Paving assessment of Mr. Earl L. Be~jamin on lot 13, blbck 26, be adjusted in accordance with the recommendation of City Attorney Geo. Westbrook. ~ ~ r1r. Stackhouse made a motion, seconded by Hr.
