09-05-1939 Regular Meeting ~ ~ <1 " ..c:--- = ~ -.,., CITY OF CLERMONT Minutes or the regular meeting or the City Council held at the City Hall, Tuesday, September 5, 1939, 7:30 P.M. The meeti~g was called to order by president O.H.Keene, other members of thA Council present being A.M.Johnson and R. L. Lassiter. Mayor R.C.Brown, City Abtorney Geo. F. Westbrook, Street gupt. R. F. Anderson, and Uarshall H. S. Cleaver were also present. ~tlnutes or the meeting August 1st were read and approved. Mayor Brovm's report was read. In it were several recommendations which were acted upon by the Council. Mr Johnson made a motion that the old Zoning Commission appointed over a year ago, be discharged, and that a new Commis$'en composed or L. E. Denslow, S. H. Bowman, C. w. Broomall, Jerry E~n, and Irving F. Morse be appointed to act under the provisions of the City Charter. The motion was secon~ed by Mr. Lassiter, and when put to a vote, carried. Uayor Brown was asked to write the Florida Publio Servic'e Co~pany in regard to the orten disru~ed electric service, to see if conditions could not be improved. Mr. Lassiter made a motion that XkK Lake Sunnyside Drive on the west side or the lake between Pine St. and Hibiscus St. be temporarily closed and a barricade erected at each end, on account of the dangerous wash-out in the Street during the recent rains. The motion was seconded by Mr. Jo~~cn, and when put to a vote the motion c~rried. Mr. Lassiter made a motion that the two-story dwelling located on the west 100 ft or lots 18-19-20, Block 91, owned '" by tIre .Potter be condemned and ordered torn down. Mr. JohnRon seconded the motion, and when put to a vote the motion carriea Mr. Westbrook said that the debt settlement seems to be progressing satisfactorily. The Council agrad to meet as the Tax Equalization Board on Sept. 26th to hear any complaints of tax assessments. Mr. Lass:lJter made a motion that the 2" water main on Orange Ave be extended east across East Ave; and that Mr. C. B. Pierce pay for the pipe from East Ave along :tK Grand Highway to a point opposite his new house, a distance of about 1200 ft; and he is to be reimbursed in that amount by Ci ty water furnished at the regular rate, at vrhich time the pipe becomes the property of the City. The motion was. seconded by Ur. Johnson, and when put to R vote, carried.
